Sounds like a great underrated game. I've seen it before but never picked it up.
Homeworld isn't really underrated, it has a metacritic score of 93. It was simply underplayed. It's a great game (homeworld 2 is also great). It's a shame Relic's games don't seem to get the popularity they deserve. They release tons of top quality RTS games which are, in my opinion of course, better than what blizzard makes and no one damn well plays them.

Just browse through gog.com

Tons of great older PC games super cheap, and DRM free. Totally legal!

Also, Neverwinter Nights. Amazing RPG.

Dragon Age just use the close up angle, its better in my opinion.
You think that will run on his specs? That's cute.

OT: Geneforge and Avernum. Both pulished by Spiderweb Software, have freaking massive demos, and almost no one has heard of them.

Plus, creating you own mini army of telepathic squid is awesome (Geneforge).
I didn't look at his "specs". You know what isn't cute, being a rude and condescending nag.
Pardon me for expecting people to read the OP before posting.

baldurs gate, morrowind, oblivion (maybe you can lower the settings of it),dragon age origins (maybe lower settings),diablo.
Baldur's gate (yes that will run)
Diablo (will run also)
Morrowind (yes but not on highest maybe with medium-high settings)
Oblivion (fuck...no! wouldn't even run it will just crash)
Dragon age Origins (no, no and...no)

Seriously people do you expect him to run recent games on a setup like this. Even if you are not knowledgeable about computers it's common bloody sense.

Huh, when did you see it? I'd be extremely surprised if it's still in stores now. It sold well for its time apparently, but it's 12 years old now and nobody remembers it for some odd reason... *stares witheringly at Starcraft, which came out around the same time*

(I'm sure Starcraft's a perfectly good game, but still... Homeworld's my favourite game.)

Few people love it as much as I do, but most of the people who've tried it and have an attention span of some sort enjoy it. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you get it. :)
In all honesty, I saw it the time I bought my copy of Starcraft and I picked Starcraft because it felt safer. Now that I've seen some gameplay of Homeworld, I will definitely give it a shot.

Civilization 2, if you don't mind RTS games.

You can also load up an emulator and go for some old-school SNES RPGs like Chronorigger, Zelda, or FF6.

Ultima Underworld should run fine on DosBox as well if you wanted a 1st person RPG that can be played on an old PC.

MINECRAFT.

Should keep you busy. :)
Minecraft has beastly system requirements for a smooth framerate. My 4-6 year old computer has trouble on the lowest settings and my computer is way better than the original posters.

Ot: I don't know maybe uhhhhh I'll get back to you....

Glad to hear it mate. Hope you enjoy it. :)

(As an aside, Homeworld's multiplayer WON service was disconnected a while ago. There is a small following on Gameranger, though.)

Yeah, I've been getting loads of responses like that now.

Let me formally apologize: I didn't know it was that HUGE, but then again, my own computer is built by my dad and excellent for gaming, so I don't know much about the technical stuff.

Probably nobody here knows the Gothic series. Gothic and Gothic 2 + Addon. Play that.
(Gothic 3 won't run but it's not as good anyway...so forget about that).

I spent months of my life playing those. The atmosphere and story is really amazing. Controls (especially in the first game) can be a bit tricky, but you'll get used to it.

The first one lags beyond belief, I don't think the second will be much different.

If you don't get that it was your aptitude not the information that was rude then you missed the boat already.

Try Betrayal at Krondor - if you don't mind VGA graphics it runs well on Dosbox (and I believe is official abandonware so you aren't breaking any piracy laws downloading it). Very good plot and quite immersive.
Just so you know... there is no such thing as Abandonware.
Unless it becomes 'public domain' a product is never abandoned, and it's always illegal to pirate. Just an FYI.
I just checked and you are correct. The copy I currently have I downloaded (some years ago now) off Sierra?s website for free. Since then I have always moved that from PC to PC and have assumed that its still freely available. However it looks like that was just a promotion of the, massively inferior, Betrayal At Antara and is no longer the case.

It's really old but I'd recommend Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant. (there's a sequel out now too). Old Skool.

If you want something newer then I'm with everyone else on Morrowind and Oblivion.

World of Warcraft it isn't computer intensive at all.

Walk freely around Dalaran on a high population server at 8 PM on a Tuesday. No lag.

OT: Get an emulator and play Pokemon, it may not be as immersive as you'd like, but it is still loads of fun!
