Oke, this is the deal. My little brother 'needs' a laptop, primarily for school, some basic stuff and ofcourse a small amount of low res gaming. He doesn't no jack shit about computers and not the least amount of technical knowledge (he wouldn't know a bolt from a nail) and is broke as hell. So what he needs is a 'decent' laptop and for the price, how low can we go and still have a manageable rig?

Yes it needs to be a laptop 'cause he isn't gonna drag a desktop pc to his school.

Laptops aren't good for gaming. But I suppose there are some good ones you can get for a budget. how much are you willing to spend?

Considering he's broke as hell, You aren't going to get something capable of running games (or if your ABSOLUTELY LUCKY, barely well). Might as well get something basic for around $300-$400. if he wants games, you've got no choice but to pay more then $700-$800

Asked him, roundabout 500 to 600 would be max...

Hope you would be willing to go up a bit. This is probably his best option for the price.

It's a recertified laptop, but ASUS is a very trustworthy brand with great repair quality for any blemishes on functionality.

But again, laptops are not for gaming.

stick with MSI or Dell, rest will fall apart on you. MOST IMPORTANT thing about getting a laptop is buying a 1-2 year warranty that covers everything from faulty equipment too accidental damage. I got a decent MSI gaming laptop for 600, I could raid and do arenas on normal settings on WOW and other games.
