SO PLEASE JUST HALP.
there's a difference between porn and ecchi you know :p anyway, back on topic, if you want action and story look no further than Black Cat! it's about a happy-go-lucky bounty hunter with near super-human shooting skills, it is pure 100% awesome!!!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Seriously, read all of it. It's fabulous and awesome.
Nuoh my god.

You have amazing taste and I love you more than I love my own mother. Thank you for making my day a little better by showing me that there are people with genuinely good taste on The Escapist.

Just to throw something out there that hasn't been mentioned yet: Hellsing. I just got done reading the series, and it's a very action-themed manga that revolves around vampires. Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned YuYu Hakusho yet, either. It's a longer one, but it's a fairly good series. Imagine DBZ only without all the Power Level nonsense and more of a paranormal feeling (though I guess if you're new to anime/manga you'd have no idea what DBZ is).

Soichi Negishi is a shy young musician who dreams of a career in pop. Dreams don't pay the bills, so he's ended up as the lead singer of a death metal band, "Detroit Metal City." In stage costume he is Johannes Krauser II, rumored to be a terrorist demon from hell, to have killed and raped his parents, to wield his giant death penis with abandon, etc. One of his songs suggests that his fans should murder everyone, in a comic parody of the genre. Negishi despises DMC and all that it stands for, but he can't walk away. As DMC's star rises Negishi tries to satisfy both worlds, but can't.

Deathnote : great manga, boring anime.
Also Akira is a great dark horse manga.
Also if your into realism and music try beck.
Also if your looking for an good anime check kino's adventure.
Try to stay away from long serial realized in japan.Go for shorter series
usually better. If you already are into Japanese stuff try some clamp ,
almost forgot, trigun is brilliant(i prefer the anime though much more ambiguous).

Didn't see this being mentioned before. Personally i loved the art style and the story, theres a lot of action and some more serious scenes.

From the ones being mentioned here i can vouch for:
Vagabond, Berserk, Parasyte, Claymore (kinda bored of it by now), FMA, Battle angel Alita, Vinland saga.
I really enjoyed reading them, only downside is the wait for a new chapter.

Try Fullmetal Alchemist

It was my first and my favorite manga.....it got a little of everything; silly, serious, action packed, intense dialog..... all that good stuff. And it's quite popular

Berserk.

It may seem like it's all gore and no substance, but believe me, it's one of the most well written stories of all time in any media.
The art is unrivaled for a manga.
The main character gives "badass" a whole new meaning.

Beware, though. Berserk isn't for the squeamish.
There's a tremendous amount of brutal rape and torture in the series. Children included.
Guts brutally kills thousands (and that's not an overstatement) of men and demons throughout his journey, always leaving a bloody trail of gore behind him.

I can guarantee that you'll rage at the end of the Golden Age arc.
