I dunno. Wasteland, Ultima 7: The Black Gate, Albion, Betrayal at Krondor. Should be enough.
I think I had the most fun with Ultima 6:The False Prophet. I'm not going to say that Ultima 7 was bad, I'm just going to say I'd rather play 6. Then again, the series as a whole is pretty good.

Chrono Trigger that is all.
What you just suggested to him was like telling someone who asked what kind of pizza they should order that they should get a bowl of clam chowder.
Cool your jets. I see that you are really excited about PS:T but there is no reason to dismiss one of the creator of the games favourite titles and influences.
He wanted games that were like the ones he listed, which are all very similar. Chrono Trigger is nothing like any of those games.

Planescape Torment. If you haven't played it yet and you and want an RPG you have no excuse (it's my all time favorite game and my best example for the videogames as art debate). You should also try Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines (great mood and dialogue) but don't forget to install the latest unofficial patch.

Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven (Awesome!)
Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor (Awesome!!!)
Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer (Meh...)

I can also recommend the 5 earlier games, but they do require DosBox or something similar if you want to run them on a modern computer.

Edit: Just for gods sake, don't play Might and Magic IX. It suuuuucks!

Yeah, but you can buy the first 6 games prepackaged in DOSBOX (well, 6 isn't in DOSBOX because it's a windows game, but the other 5 are) from gog.com (although you may want to update the version of DOSBOX that comes with them if playing Might and Magic 1 as the text becomes unreadable.

As I'm seeing some D&D in the enjoyed list and the other two games by Troika have been mentioned, I'm going to chime in with Temple of Elemental Evil.

Seriously, this is the best damn implementation of the D&D rule set I've played in a CRPG. Granted it's combat is turned based, but it's a good time for sure. Well, except for maybe Hommlet to be honest, but it's a good ol' dungeon crawl after that town.

Survival Kids [http://uk.gameboy.ign.com/articles/162/162204p1.html] or Dragon Warrior Monsters [http://uk.gameboy.ign.com/objects/012/012825.html] if you have means to play a Game Boy Color game.

I heard Bahamut Lagoon [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahamut_Lagoon] is also a classic but never got around to trying that one out.

HehehehahahahahahahahaHAHAHAAHAH! No. Dragon Age isn't even slightly old school. I realize this is a relative term, but the game fails just about any possible definition of old school RPG.

Anyway, if you do want a more recent old school RPG, Eschalon fits the bill.

Beyond that, I'll second (third or fourth, or whatever) Fallout 1&2, any infinity engine game (Planescape isn't really old school, but play it anyway, it will be the best RPG you'll ever play), and fervently recommend Arcanum. Also, Troika's Temple of Elemental Evil... it's buggier than Arcanum, but still a very faithful adaptation of the classic AD&D Module and the 3.5 ruleset, though, (because of the combat difficulty) it is almost more of a Strategy RPG than simply an old school RPG.

If you want an old school Action RPG, it's hard to go wrong with Diablo 2.

Hmmmm well absolute classic would be Planescape Torment as everyone and their little puppy knows but also well worth a look in would be Temple of Elemental Evil with a BIG precondition that you patch it up and install the Circle of 8 mods. www.co8.org

So Iv'e been feeling nostalgic lately, so I thought about playing some old school RPGs.

Now I've had my share of these. Favorties include The Baldurs Gate series, Neverwinter Night series and forgotten realms in general, Might and Magic 6 and 7, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Fallout 1 and 2 and Diablo 1 (Don't really know if they all fit comletely into the genre). So fellow escapists: can you help me out?
If nobody has suggested them yet, I recommend "Arcanum", and "Wizardry 8" (6 and 7 are pretty good too).

I could prattle on, since RPGs are my genere of choice, but those two seem like something you'd enjoy. Also if you can find Ultima 7, and Ultima 7 part 2, and run them through something like Exult you'd probably enjoy them as well, though they can be pretty slowly paced with a lot of reading and dialogue.

Feeling not entirely unlike a parrot here, but Planescape: Torment. I think it was recently rereleased too (it was pretty expensive for a while before that)
Yeah, I agree. It's a great RPG. You can get Planescape: Torment for 10$ on Good Old Games.
GOG is great for a game like this that was missed by 99% of the world
