There's a modern song called "Mad World" it features piano. It was used in the first trailer for Gears of War.

It was best used in Donnie Darko

I Have been desperately searching for a sad piece of music, Hopefully aimed at the war section, I prefer piano. Yet I have realized that there isn't much with that taste or else I haven't been looking hard enough. So I was wondering if any of you could just give me a sad song in general. I don't prefer heavy metal, yet really I will listen to what ever now. So if any of you know of a sad music piece, no matter singing or what ever is in there I will listen. Just need some new music is all.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "the war section", but sad songs about war with a piano?

That seems right up your alley.

Another sad song, about a man who commits suicide, is called "Yuma" by Justin Townes Earle. It doesn't feature piano, but it is sad and slow enough. A song that's not as sad but still good would be "Lone Pine Hill" also but Justin. Look 'em up. I use playlist.com.

It was best used in Donnie Darko
Never saw it. What's it about?

Where have you been?! Should I start with my planned funeral soundtrack endless list?! Of course some are totally sad, others are of a raging sadness, others are bittersweet making you feel happy and sad at same time. Hope they work for you, they all work for me. Would also help if you said what did you find so far and if did or didn't work. You probably know all of the following, or dont know any, or hate all. I tried.

Within Temptation - Memories, Swan Song, Our Farewell, The Howling, Our Solemn Hour.

Evanescence - My Immortal, Is It Something Missing.

The Cranberries - No Need To Argue, Cordell, Electric Blue Eyes, Linger, In The Grave, Daffodil Lament, Ode to my family, Sorry Son, When You're Gone, Zombie.

Queen - Who wants to live forever, Show must go on.

Madonna - Mer Girl

Nightwish - Sleeping sun

Oasis - Wonderwall

John lenon - Imagine

Louis Armstrong - What a wonderfulo world.

And since you speak about piano, its not a voiced song, just melody, but this is one of my favourite instrumental sad songs:

I like depressing music, so I should be able to help here:

Song to Say Goodby by Placebo.
Day Before the Day and Quiet Times by Dido.
Thief by Our Lady Peace.
You Can Still Be Free and 2 Beds and a Coffee Machine by Savage Garden.
The Drugs Don't Work by The Verve.
Shipbuilding by Elvis Costello.
The Finish Line* by Snow Patrol. quite a sad song).
False Flags and Live With Me by Massive Attack.
Runaway Train by Soul Asylum.
All Good Things (Come to an End) by Nelly Furtardo.
Start of the Breakdown by Tears for Fears.
Ordinary World* by Duran Duran.

*These songs are more optimistic then the others but they are still quite sad.
