Dr. Who (modern series, because the older series is just messy and hard to get into unless you're a seriously hardcore fan)

Excellent TV shows include:

-Arrested Development
-Breaking Bad


But overall I would most highly recommend:
-The Shield

Police drama story about a group of corrupt cops who skate the boundaries of the law to keep gangs scared and to close cases. It really gets you rooting for the most corrupt characters, regardless of what they do. If you finish the series, you will hate Forest Witaker for the rest of your life.
