I'm interested (at the moment) in mecha/comedy/romance anime/manga. I've already watched/read FMA, Black Lagoon, Occult Academy, Omamori Himari, Love Hina, Highschool of the Dead, Rosario + Vampire, Tengenn Toppen Gurren Laggan, Linebarrels of Iron, Seikirei, Death Note, Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Silver Spoon, Karas and Full Metal Panic. There may be others that I've forgotten.

So, any ideas?

It's the only anime I've ever actually found deeply interesting and moving. It's absolutely beautiful, and well-written. Every episode left me feeling some sort of immense quietude with the universe.

Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes. Yes. Watch Baccano. It is awesome.

Let's see here... Spice and Wolf is amazing, and I did enjoy Soul Eater, although nothing ever gets explained.

As for manga, there's always One Piece and Bleach, which has actually gotten a lot better lately. Some of my favorites are 20th Century Boys, Monster, and Pluto.

Here's a link to 20th Century Boys, it's pretty long but is amazing. http://www.thespectrum.net/manga_scans/?preview=manga_20th-Century-Boys

Katekyo Hitman Reborn.

Watch it because I said so.

You'll thank me later (total deja vu right now...)

Lots of humor, mafia stuff, awesome powers, explosions. You'll like it.

Durarara!! is an anime I've recently watched that is really, REALLY good. It tells a great story, it has likable characters, and the plot reveals never let you down. It's good not just as an anime, but a legitimate art.

Eureka 7 is a decent mecha anime with a good amount of humor. It's one of the few animes where I prefer the english dub over the over the japanese dub.

Outlaw Star is like a sending up of the anime genre, I quite enjoyed it as a young man. Cowboy Bebop is also mandatory anime viewing.

No mention of Angel Beats yet? Go watch Angel Beats. It's hard to make me cry, but I was tearing up at the end.

Fairly Broad appeal:
Baccano! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/anime/6404-Anime-Review-Baccano]
Monster [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=969]
Berserk [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=57]
Black [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=1147] Lagoon [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=1148]
Excel Saga [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=270]

More dependant on personal taste:
Spice & Wolf [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=1055]
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/anime/6503-Anime-Review-Higurashi-When-They-Cry]
Kara no Kyoukai - The Garden of Sinners [http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/kara-no-kyoukai-the-garden-of-sinners]
Grave of the Fireflies [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=110]
Puella Magi Madoka Magica [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.275533-Puella-Magi-Madoka-Magica-Review]
Deadman Wonderland [http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/deadman-wonderland/episodes-1]
Steins;Gate (on-going) [http://littleredreviewer.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/anime-review-steinsgate/]
Ping Pong Club [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=316]
Detroit Metal City [http://www.nihonreview.com/anime/detroit-metal-city/]
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom [http://canime.wordpress.com/2009/11/05/phantom-requiem-for-the-phantom-anime-review/]

More specifically, for romance/drama with a touch of mecha, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=864] might be worth a look. Although it's not a universally praised adaptation, and the art style can probably be divisive as well. Technically, Puni Puni Poemy [http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=320] fits the bill as well, if perhaps not in the way any sane person would've imagined.

You should definetly watch "To are Majutsu no Index" and between the two seasons "To aru Kagaku no Railgun". It is awesome!

Also check out "Mitsudomoe"
It's a little strange at first but really hilarious.

I recommend Birdy: The Mighty Decode, Ga-Rei Zero, Fruits Basket, Kino's Journey (Kino no Kuni), the first 8 episodes of Claymore, Soul Eater, Shin-Chan, Initial D (if you're into cars), and Junjou Romantica (if you like yaoi).

All of these anime have great english dubs (they're by FUNimation), although I've never seen Kino's Journey in english. and yes, I watch english dubs now because watching fansubs helped me discover that there are only 6 different voices in jap dubs.

Birdy is not groundbreaking, but at the same time, it IS because it executes fundamental techniques in a show so well. Great characters, great development, awesome and NOT drawn-out fight scenes, good soundtrack, and awesome voice acting.

Watch the first ep of Ga-Rei Zero, let it lead you in one direction and completely throw you off track by the end. It is short, it is great, and it is violent, but enough to be mature and not stupidly outrageous.

Fruits Basket is cute and romantic. The story really tugs your heartstrings by the end, it just might make you cry.

Kino's Journey is one of the best episodic anime I've seen. Exploring each new locale along with Kino makes you think you're along for the ride. Every place has something different about them, whether it's the history or the state of the current population. It's rather sad, because Kino seems to possess almost no emotion, a blank slate. But her character will come together as you keep watching.

Claymore's kinda lame as a whole, stopping at the first 8 episodes will make you believe the complete opposite though.

Soul Eater is just a good shounen. If you like action and a large cast of colorful characters, go for it.

Shin-Chan's hilarious, and Initial D isn't afraid to be real technical with cars without spelling anything out for non-car enthusiasts.

and Junjou Romantica is a good yaoi, because it actually has some substance.
