Recommend me JRPGs 2, since the first was great.

I've heard good things about Crono Trigger, but I too have yet to pick that one up.

If you have a spare pile of money and a SNES on you, go track down a copy of Earthbound as well.

But when it comes to JRPGs, Skies of Arcadia is my suggestion to all. Has a few of the JRPG problems (no visible save points, random battles) but the story is great, the turn-based combat is okay and the characters are actually likable and memorable. Gilder for the win.

Lost Odyssey - because its am "mature" final fantasy with a brilliant story, characterization and combat system.

Don't forget about the PS1, it is a gold mine. Also I know you've played all the Persona games but have you played Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne and the Digital Devil Saga on the PS2?

In regards to great PS1 games, definitely play Vagrant Story and Dragon Warrior VII.

Ding ding, right here. I've got both of these, and DWVII is easily my favorite game on the PS1.

A lot of the recommendations are for Lost Odyssey so far. I might pick it up today. I also managed to track down some cheaps copies of the Golden Sun games since everyone is recommending them. That will actually work out great since I'm going to be traveling soon. So I guess I will hold off on actually playing the golden sun games until I'm on the plane, that way I have something to do.

Tales of the Abyss, it's my personal favorite game. The character development and story were awesome, and it has the awesome Tales battle system to boot.

Crisis Core is awesome, IF you liked Final Fantasy VII. The ending had me tearing up even though it's obvious what happens, it's just so good.

Radiata Stories has some funny parts, and I liked the "everyone has a schedule and a unique way to recruit them" it had going.

Someone said Star Ocean: 'Til the End of Time. I have to say no on that one. I actually liked the plot, unlike most people, but the ending was just annoying. The devs took the cheap way out of making it difficult towards the end: enemies with absurd damage and barely any experience, making an annoyingly slow and painful experience grind.

Suikoden V, Shadow Hearts, Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Dragon Quest VIII, and Star Ocean 3.

I wish they would have made a Shadow Hearts 4. And Star Ocean betrayed me by releasing on the 360. Playstation WAS the place for jrps and had some good western rpgs too. Boo hoo hoo.

The twist at the end was retarded and the game lost its "feel." Are you talking about when those new enemies come at the end... where its just those enemies around a dirt/rock landscape? If you are, then, yes it was extremely hard. But after that little patch I had no problem. I dont mind the difficulty so much. It just makes me want to get my characters and my strategies stronger.

Nthd on the Golden sun.

I'm also gonna toss in rune factory 1&2. You still get fight monsters, and japanese-ish plots and all that crap but you also can... Farm. Don't knock it till you try it.

You could also try RPG maker vx, if you wanted to spend months making your own perfect RPG. :D

Tales Of The World: Radiant Mythology can be fun also, a "Tales" game crossing over characters from the various worlds/series where you get to create your own character, level them up, and choose from a number of differant character classes.
I am intrigued. What console would this be on?

Chrono Trigger is great. It has an innovative combat system that uses awesome "dual-techs" and "triple-techs" where 2 or 3 characters to a simultaneous and almost always awesome attack. The story is good, with plenty of plot twists, and the characters are fantastic. My personal favorite RPG (let alone JRPG) of all time.
