So, with Batman's Court of Owls arc, and how bloody amazing it has been so far, (damn you yanks, we're only on Issue 7#), I've started to get into comics again for the first time in a while. I picked up A Serious House on Serious Earth, which I found fascinating, if not traditonally enjoyable, and I hunger for more. Although I mentioned only Batman comics, I am by no means restricted to those. I started to lose my interest in comics around 2005, and dropped off completely after One More Day happened. So, is there anything I should take a look at, post it here! Anything goes!

I'm know I've seen this thread before recently, but I can't find it, I think my brain is mixing all the comic threads together.

OT: Adding to the Vertigo list, Fables.
You can get the deluxe edition, which combines 10 issues per book and some extra goodies. It's a good way to get into the series.

I thought about that one, but that's specifically about obscure comics, I'm pretty sure I saw one about mainstream comics sometime a few days ago...

It listed series like the Sandman and whatnot.

If you like Batman:

Husha and Batman RIP are very enjoyable reads with interesting mystery stories. The Killing Joke is the best Joker comic out there. Batman and Robin: Reborn is also pretty cool with a different Batman and Robin to Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson/Jason Todd/Tim Drake.

Awesome Marvel ones are:

Spiderman: Maximum Carnage (Spiderman, Carnage AND Venom!) is a good story about Carnage however I say that my favourite Marvel is Marvel: Civil War since it shows an important moment in pre-Heroic Age Marvel. I'd also recommend anything Deadpool related because he's a hilarious character. So far my favourite Deadpool story has been Deadpool: Secret Invasion with the Skrulls.

Other DC Stories:

I find the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinity Crisis and Final Crisis sets as being quite interesting with Brightest Day/Blackest Night as another brilliant group of stories.

Batman: Year One
Batman: Heart of Hush
The Killing Joke

Superman: Birthright
Superman: Braniac
Superman and the Legion of Superheroes
Lex Luthor: Man of Steel
Superman Adventures 1-40 (Fun and clever, not especially thought provoking though)
For the Man Who Has Everything

Justice League: Year One
Kingdom Come
DC: The New Frontier

Green Arrow: Year One

Ultimate Spider-Man
J Michael Straczynski's Spider-Man
Joe Kelly's Spider-Man
Avenging Spider-Man

Deadpool team-up (self contained stories, dont worry about just jumping in)

Basically the same stuff I've posted in other threads about this. Also, sorry for the DC bias, not at all huge on Marvel stuff outside of Spider-Man and occasionally Deadpool.

Non-Superhero:

DMZ

I Kill Giants

Demo

Northlanders

The Surrogates
