Everything on GOG seems to be worth taking a look at. Also the cheap stuff on Steam.

The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall.
It isn't the best Elder Scrolls game but it is free.

Various titles from late 1980s to mid 2000s. Prices range from free to US$9.99. No extra client software (like Steam), no online activation, no download limit.

The entire GTA collection on gamersgate is on sale for 12.49 USD, I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

If you can, get The Bard's Tale. It's humorous adventure game, that I'm almost sure you'll enjoy (if you like adventure games that are views almost top-down).

just buy games from amazon and the steam sales most PC games will be super cheap. Make sure you have some cash available for online transactions at all times, especially around xmas and mid summer when steam run their by yearly mega steam sale. Theres nothing worse than been skint the week a steam sale is on.

also there are web sites that keep tabs on whos doing what deal, check them daily.

Dawn of War II: The Last Standalone is pretty fun and only costs about £7 on Steam (you just missed the 50% off thing though :p)

Better get a steam account anyway, and check in daily, they have amazing sales, especially on weekends, and in two months it will be black December, in which you can buy hundreds of games for almost nothing.
For free you can try some good browser based games like Misfortune (if you are an RPG fan): http://www.loadingames.com/
or Battledawn (if you are a strategy fan): http://www.battledawn.com/

Steam's got plenty, as people have said, but as I always say in these kinds of threads: http://db.tigsource.com/ Full of indie games, some free, most cheap. Off the bat I recommend Iji, Digital: A Love Story, Alabaster and Poizoned Mind. Free, can get a bit of time out from them, and they have GREAT stories. That site's good for anything indie, really. Not all gems, but quite a few.

What kind of games do you like? If you like RPG's and you live in the states or Canada, you may have a moral excuse to play a game called Terranigma on an emulator (I don't condone piracy but if you live in North America it is the only way you can play the game). Normally, I would reccomend donating to the developer, but they are now defunct. PM me to learn more.
I'm basically open to any game type except RTS's so I may look at that one
It was criminally overlooked when it came out, and it is actually in my top 3 SNES games (and I hold the SNES in very high regard). I will PM you a video that tells you basically everything you need to know.
Ah I love Terranigma, the final few hours and associated soundtyrack is enough to make me weep

Creeper world 1 and 2 are fun and cheap you should check them out.

Basically anything on steam, last i checked there were 1000 odd games for under $10 and crazy daily deals.

Super Meat Boy is addictive as coke and as cheap as coca-cola.

Need I say minecraft.

As said before Trackmania is a laugh of a racing game if you can get into it.

Frozen synapse is a great top down tactical turn based shooter.

Plants vs. Zombies, a great way to waste hours of you life.

TF2 is FREE.

Tons of emulators out there for the SNES and its ilk, I particularly liked Harvest Moon.

Osmos is a fun puzzle like game, much like Spores first stage but with physics and being better overall.

Emperor: Rise of the middle kingdom is THE best city builder out there, (My Opinion) a bit dated but great nonetheless.

I picked up Heroes of Newerth yesterday for free.

You can't go wrong with free right?
There's also League of Legends, Team Fortress 2, and quite a few MMOs that a free to play.

There's, of course, also the usual flash games and such from Kongregate (but I know the appeal runs out fast).

For cheap: check out steam sales and indy games. Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Torchlight, Creeper World, Minecraft, etc.

There's really a lot for someone willing to hunt around (and maybe ignore some flawed graphics and/or gameplay).
