Thanks guys I like what I'm hearing, there's some fantastic stuff here I'm liking Jan Garbarek stuff very relaxing.
I'll recommend Stanton Moore's work for some funk-jazz fusion. Also, try John Zorn if you're willing to take the leap into hardcore free jazz.
Here are some jazz standards that I have heard/played.
Spain
Is you is or is you ain't my baby
Salt peanuts (teehee)
I got rhythm
It don't mean a thing (if it ain't got that swing)
Twelfth street rag (I think ragtime counts as another form of jazz personally)
Fly me to the moon (a very nice one, I prefer it played bossa nova style)
Take five (already been mentioned but I do love it)
Blue Bossa
Birdland (is a great one to play!)
Jazz is a great genre to listen to, but I highly recommend that if you're into jazz and know how to play a music instrument you should play it too!
Personally jazz really isn't something I would play too much, but if you like jazz a lot, it's definately worth picking up a fake book (or anything full of jazz standards, old or new) and start playing
