Hello fellow Escapists! My music library is severely lacking in some new music. Would you be so kind as to recommend me some tunes? My favorite genres are: Punk, Pop-Punk, Metal, Metalcore, Death Metal, Hip-Hop, and Southern rock/metal. I don't like country or dubstep.

So whaddaya say? Help a brother out?

Please, for all that's good in the world, don't just write these songs off because they're pony-related. The first song in particular is truly phenomenal imho and is possibly my favorite song period. If you're looking for some more traditional, solid, mindless death-metal; the second one is probably right up your alley and doesn't mention ponies in any way outside of that static picture of RD displayed during the video.

Dr. Steel. Awesome music, awesome message "You make your own reality." Gotta do something to make your dreams! Don't know if it will fit into the categories you listed, but new music's always good! Plus alot of his songs seem to be in seperate genres and connected with the same steam punk style.

[/spoiler]

The songs sound like conspiracy theorist's ramblings at all that, but Dr. Steel is a character that's exactly that. A mad scientist conspiracy theorist! I usually just ignore it and listen to the music itself.

Punk? Death Metal? Southern rock?

Listen to classical music, boi. I would suggest people like Tchaikovsky, Saints-Saens, Dvorak, Mahler, Stravinsky, Scriabin, Prokofiev, James Barnes, Maslanka.

Here. Listen to this. Fast-paced, arabesque, blood-pumping, extreme control of dynamics. Sounds like something out of Egypt if it was given a night of love with an eggbeater with an F1 engine.

Metal you say? Well, I think I might have something for you, then.

Strapping Young Lad

Samael

Blind Guardian

The Project Hate

Gojira

Sybreed

My Dying Bride

Septic Flesh

Devin Townsend

I could list some more stuff, if you'd like, but I think this is enough for now.

I listened to them, but still didn't care for them. Ponies...you know.
:( But I tried so hard, and got so... *gets shot*

Jk. I do genuinely think they're good songs imo even outside of ponies. I do have to ask though - did the pony aspect alone really ruin them for you (particularly the second, seeing how it has fuck-all to do with ponies) or do you think they're just not good as songs? If the latter, what were your issues?

Kenbo, Kenbo, Kenbo.

All you had to do was ask.

Also, I don't know if you've already listened to it yet or not, but the newest Bring Me The Horizon album is pretty sweet in my opinion, even if it is quite different from their previous work. (Oli actually sings, for instance.)

If you like rock with a bit of country in the mix you should listen to Ghoultown. Drink with the Living Dead is their best song.

The pony aspect alone caused me not to like the first one. But the second one just wasn't a good death metal song.

Makes sense. The second one I primarily went with due to it not having much to do with ponies. While I personally think it's decent, I figured it'd be the kind of song you'd like based on your OP. The first one I still adore, but to each his own and all. Wasn't trying to be an ass or anything, btw.

As for not-pony music, lemme see... how about this:

A simple metal cover of some background music from my favorite game of all time. It's not outstanding, but it's worth a listen imo. Btw, what bands do you like? It'd make it easier for people to give recommendations if they have a better idea of what you like.

Let's see...yep, pretty much all the normal bad ass stuff is listed.

You want some good punk stuff? Screeching Weasel. I figure others like Bad Religion, NoFx, and The Offspring are no brainers.
