I liked the first one, but the second one was a little too slow for my liking. I've never been a doom metal guy.
Hmm, yeah that's fair enough. So you like speed? Vader will certainly suffice then.

Death metal with strong thrash roots this one. Vader is also pretty much responsible for putting Poland (and behind the Iron Curtain entire) on the map for extreme metal, so they're pretty important too.

Also, if you like speed, you may also like this intense beast. It's black metal, but with a death metal attitude.

I recommend trying Clutch, they'e a heavy rock band. They've got some of the most creative lyrics I've ever heard in a lot of their songs.

Captcha: science. it works.

That it does captcha... that it does.

Miracle of Sound?

Try some of his songs, they're awesome and on this very website!

Shocking, I know.

Also, if you're interested in blues-y music, try The Black Keys.

Or for something different, Florence + The Machine.

Alice in Chains has a new album coming out May 28 called The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. The two-three songs you can hear so far are all meaty, sludgy, goodness.

Check it out.

So whaddaya say? Help a brother out?
Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Iron Maiden, Alestorm, Lissie, Them Crooked Vultures, Queens of the Stone Age, The Yardbirds, Queen, Slayer, Rush, Deep Purple, Nivana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mud Honey, Screaming Trees. All of the above are great bands. Also how could I forget Porcupine Tree, Nightwish, Eluvite or Evanescence.

As a metal head I felt like I didn't know about Electric Wizard for waaaay too long. Never see anyone recommend them in this type of thread/discussions.

Might not be your cup of tea at all, but I personally took a liking them. Doom/stoner metal, very dark droning guitar riffs galore!
I shall introduce you with the same song that I was introduced with:

Really, I think the Pixies always have to be mentioned. They're closer to punk but they ca get pretty heavy and their singer has what I believe to be the best scream ever. In terms of metal, Type-o-negative are a really cool goth metal band. They're best songs are all really long and demand attention but they'll take you on a journey if you give them it. Tool are an sort of alt. metal group and the absolute top of their genre I think, and Fugazi are a punk band with a pretty unique sound.

After some sleep I realized I forgot to ask if you are into Industrial? Like Combichrist, Wumpscut and Suicide Commando among others. They combine the aggressiveness of metal with electronica. I got into them when I lived in Germany for a few years.

If you are open to a different genre, Daft Punk just released a new single. These guys know their craft INCREDIBLY well. The amount of effort and meticulous detail they put in their music is mind blowing!

I'd recommend The Protomen. Here's a sample of their first album [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZsUAqaOiHU] and of their second album [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkLvpt9Z3fA]. They also have a live queen cover album, and are currently working on a followup to their first and second albums (which are parts of a three-part rock opera. You really need to listen to the full albums for the whole experience), and another cover album.

I'm sure you're aware of Black Sabbath.

..But are you aware that they just released a new song, and it's awesome?
