I want to learn to appreciate good games more, so, I figured that I should branch out and play through the worst gaming has to offer. Any ideas?

I'm thinking of getting Sonic 06 and trudging through that.

I have a PS3, Wii U, VITA, 3DS, and a laptop.

Ready set go.

Obvious ones first -

Ride to Hell: Retribution, Dark, Guise of the Wolf, Bubsy 3D, Superman 64, Daikatana.

Most of those should be available across the PS3 or PC (through emulation for Bubsy and Superman), and they're all reliably bad and/or incredibly bland and boring and buggy.

Other notorious games include Naughty Bear (which didn't really look too bad to me in the few gameplay videos I've seen, but that was a very small sample of the game) and Mindjack available on the PS3, Rogue Warrior available on the PC or PS3 (which looks highly generic and dull and short and is only made slightly amusing by the excessive use of Mickey Rourke swearing as the main character).

Also anything by Data Design Interactive, who have most notably produced a bunch of shovelware for the Wii. The only ones I've seen personally are Myth Makers: Trixie in Toyland and Ninjabread Man, but they're basically the same game, so one can assume the rest of their Wii titles are similar as well.

There's apparently a Ridge Racer game for the Vita which is really bad as well, though I know nothing about it myself.

EDIT: As a note, I left out Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing because I personally don't feel it even satisfies the criteria necessary to qualify as a video game.

Well, while some may call it cheating, a decent place to start would probably be the current Steam store front page...hey, how about Earth: Year 2066? I hear that not only is it terrible beyond words, but the developer is a greedy, dishonest bastard.

Fable III and the remake of Alien VS Predator are also frustrating and cringe-worthily bad, though not to same extent as something like Ride to Hell: Retribution.

For the second time in a week, I get to recommend Damnation. Broken, ugly and almost unplayable third person shooter with an interesting if not very well done setting. It should be pretty cheap to buy because it is fairly old and soooo bad so you won't feel so bad when you don't get any further than the first level.

Please, check this shit out so that you too can feel my pain.

Overlord 2

This game is frustrating in a much different way. If you're like me and played the original Overlord, Overlord 2 keeps the same mechancis. The minions are great, the gameplay is great, the additions and upgrades are great, music is great. Overlord 2 polishes everything about Overlord 1 when it comes to game play and its mechanic.

Where it fails is the god awful story. It is so hard to get into this game. Right when you're having fun a horribly bad cutscene appears and ruins any fun you had with the game

I don't really think that's what OP is looking for.

For a lot of people, the story doesn't make or break a game. For even more people, how "bad" a story is will be drastically different from person to person. Games at least have the benefit of being able to be judged on a technical level, and that's often where they can fail the worst and most uniquely.

EDIT: And honestly, when it comes to "bad" video game stories, you could pretty much just throw a dart at 99% of all of video gaming and just say "that one" to whatever it landed on.

OT: Speaking of mechanically poor games, Neverdead and Amy just came to mind as well. Though I don't know anything more about them than what Yahtzee had to say, so.

I wouldn't say it's a bad game, but Godfather II... It's interesting. It's like GTA and Micromanagement had a child, and that child was a little off.

Prayer Warriors: All Out for God.

Religious context notwithstanding, this is quite possibly one of the baddest games in existence in a very amazing way. Talking too much about it would spoil the fun. Interestingly enough, I will say it's worth the price of admission. Bonus points if you play it with friends.

Hysteria Project. It's a PS mini title which bears a strong resemblance to the 'games' you used to get on children's DVDs, genuinely the worst thing I have ever played. If I was trying to put someone off gaming this I'd what I'd ask them to play.

Neverdead. The premise is pretty damn cool, smart, but it's horrible and bad controls and bad story, but the characters are awesome and the story is pretty interesting. Just try it, don't ask questions.

why does it say that you where banned for this post? doesn't seem like a bad post.
OP:
Aqua Man: the video game.

Fighting Masters Quite possibly the worst game on the Genesis/Mega Drive. I still feel dirty for spending $2 on it at a flea market years ago.

Literally.
Which is where it belongs!

Hehehehehe...just my little joke - see the latest Jimquisition [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/9075-Salt-Of-The-Earth-A-Steam-Fail-Story] episode.

OT: That reminds me, Limbo of the Lost: a game so bad that it resorted to plagiarizing its locations from multiple games. It may be extremely difficult to get a hold of a copy, though...

Mindjack is absolutely awful. I'm pretty forgiving with games and I can usually get some enjoyment out of whatever I'm playing, but that game just put me in a terrbile mood for the rest of the day. Not only is it ridiculously hard with no difficulty settings, but it has no checkpoint or save system (to accommodate the online component that no one played). At least it was only $5 new.

I was going to say Last Battle which is truly terrible, but on looking up Fighting Masters... well, you win.

Worst game ever for me though is The Great Space Race.
