My uncle, cousin, and I are playing Borderlands 2 right now and, when we're through, we'll be moving on to The Pre-sequel. We're just about done with Borderlands 2 (We aren't doing the DLC) and, while I know it'll be a while before we finish The Pre-Sequel (We play 2+ hours every few weeks if we're lucky), I'd like to know some co-op games we can play after we're done.

I'm specifically looking for co-op games on PC. The genre doesn't necessarily matter, though my uncle and cousin are mostly into shooters (No sports!).

Side request: Some small side co-op games to play if one of us can't make it.

Left 4 Dead is an obvious choice. Its not really my thing, but between multiple maps, difficulties, and the fact that you can mod it up the wazoo makes it a great game, with a lot of replayability. Its also dirt-cheap.

Divinity Original Sin 2 just came out. It is an isometric RPG, but can be played with up to 3 other players, and is a lot of fun.

Stellaris and Civilization are good games. Manage your empire, and dominate the world/galaxy. Ally with each other, or go to war and destroy each other. Neither have story modes for co-op, though.

You could always try an MMO together. WoW has a monthly subscription, so it probably wont be worth it if you can only play every couple of weeks, but there are a lot of great F2P options. Guild Wars 2 was a lot of fun when I was into it.

Warframe is free, and that is supposed to be really good (and very deep in terms of mechanics). I've never played it, but I have heard great things.

Thats just a few. Hope it helps.

How you lot feel about couch co-op? Or are you looking for online games only?

Can you get powerstone 2 on pc? Best 4 player ever.

Tekken tag battle is 4 player...

Rayman origins/legends is fantastic and may be the best platformer ever.

Fifa is good with 4 controllers, Civilisation is great hot seat but you can lose friends doing it.

Worms always delivers too.

Note: all the games listed here I have either played and enjoyed... or are on my radar to try at some point in the future.

*Castle Crashers (4 player| 2D side-scrolling action beat 'em up)
*Broforce (4 player | 2D action platforming shooter)
*Left 4 Dead 1/2 (4 player | fps)
*Tourchlight 2 (5 player | diablo like)
*Terraria (8 player | exploration, resource gathering, building and Boss Fightes)
*Magicka 1/2 (4 player | top-down action game, warning friendly fire is on. Expect to kill each other... not always on accident)
*Mercenary Kings (4 player | 2D side-scrolling action shooter)
*Divinity: Original Sin 2 (4 player)
*Tabletop Simulator (board game simulator)
*Warhammer: End Time - Vermintide (4 player; like the Left 4 Dead games, but class based and more emphasis on melee combat)
*Diablo 3 (4 player; best with expansion)
*Moon Hunters (4 player | top-down adventure rpg)
*Civilization 3/4/5/6 (8 player | 4x turn-based strategy "historic")
*Warlock - Master of the Arcane (4x turn-based stregy fantasy, fairly similar to civilization though not nearly as complex)

Payday 2 is a god choice, jut watch a tutorial online and or maybe get s a friend who know a bit about it to teach you and your family the ropes.

Grim Dawn is a Diablo style action RPG, really really good.

I have three friends That gather together once a week for such an occurrence. Over the years we have played:
Ghost Recon Wildlands
Monaco
Payday 2
Elder Scrolls Online
Shell Shock Live (F2P)
Left for Dead
Dead by Daylight (we play just with ourselves)
Ticket to Ride (which comes up every now and again if we don't want to play something serious)
Grim Dawn
Dying Light
Gauntlet
Diablo 3 (and some Heroes of the Storm)
Torchlights
Hero of Might and Magic series (but you need more than 2hrs. or 24)

and next might be Vermintide

Spelunky - Roguelike platformer. It's pretty hard but it's fun.

Overcooked - Fast paced game about moving ingredients around and coordinating with other players.

Honestly- Playerunknown's Battlegrounds isn't even technically a co-op game, and yet it has better 4-player co-op than anything else out there. Yes, even better than Left 4 Dead.

Serious Sam 3 - Up to 16 player co-op (I wish i had that many friends), very fun doom-like FPS.

Warframe - As someone said before, free, online, constantly updated MMO kinda thing, but its a lot of 4 player missions. Great game.

Castle Crashers - You probably already know it, but a classic 4-player hack-n-slash.

Magicka (first preferably) - Tons of spells to accidentally kill your friends with. Error your friends out of existence.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Probably don't need to say anything else.

Definitely give Serious Sam 3 a look though (when its on sale, it typically goes 80% off), it sounds like it most fits what you're looking for.

Magicka 1 and 2 could work, but they're the kind of games that are best played with people you can freely swear at, because you will be killing each other...a lot. The "whoops, sorry about that" factor is part of the charm.

Left 4 Dead 2. Period.

I'd also keep my ear to the ground on Monster Hunter World. It's not out yet, so I obviously can't speak to the quality yet, but it looks promising, and I greatly enjoyed playing Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Generations with my friends...once I actually started to get a feel for everything (thankfully my more experienced friends were quite patient with me), so I expect a similar experience with World. Fair warning:

Holy crap! Five days of nothing and then the thread suddenly raises from the dead.

My uncle is a few states away so couch co-op is a no go.

Thanks for the suggestions; I really appreciate it! Warframe is the only game we really considered since it was free. It may be a little difficult to convince them to play a game that isn't a shooter, but I'll do my damnedest. Especially for the Magicka games and Monster Hunter World. Turn-based games are definitely going to be a no go, though.

Dragon's Crown all the way. Classic brawler inspired by Golden Axe. Gorgeous artwork, epic moves, you can even ride fire-breathing velociraptors!

Towerfall: Ascension is my go to party game these days. If you like retro-style, 4-player battle royale mania, it's fun to play with friends.

EDIT: Never mind, second suggestion is not on PC.
