I decided to read a book to take a LLLLOOOOOONNNNGGGGGG break for the videogames I play all the time.
But I will admit I have a soft spot for mess-up stories and for the unknown in general.
I would like to recommend to read a book in the style of Silent Hill.

Thank you.

I'm not big on reading anything other than non-fiction military/government/spy stuff, but I have read Skeleton Crew by Stephen King. It's a collection of short stories which includes not only The Raft, which was unfortunately used in the movie Creepshow 2, but also The Mist (100-130 pages long)[footnote]I think it's actually over 200 pages[/footnote], which I highly recommend over the movie.

*Edit* Oh right, Skeleton Crew is over 570 pages, so there's that. A nice long read for you. Also, one of the streets in Silent Hill is called Bachman, a deliberate reference to Stephen King's pen name, so there's that as well.

Well the inspirations for Silent Hill were the following:

Jacob's Ladder (movie)
Lost Highway (movie)
The Cell (movie)
House of Leaves (book)

Similar games would be: Lone Survivor, Spec Ops The Line, The Suffering.

Fun things to check out if you're a mega silent hill fan would be Teatro Grotesqo by Thomas Ligotti, and of course, The SCP Foundation archives.

There's a famous old short horror story about a giant deformed bug with an unstoppable appetite that eats EVERYTHING, and the twist at the end will keep you awake for days!

Teatro Grottesco by Thomas Ligotti.

He's often called a modern Lovecraft, which isn't fair but it's not wrong either. If you like the Silent Hill idea of a place being just plain wrong and the protagonist being jerked around by invisible, impersonal forces then you should check it out.

Phantoms, by Dean Koontz has a lot in common with first Silent hill game. I can't really recommend the book, without warning you that the 'twist' will ruin the experience. I've noticed it with Koontz that his books are always less than the sum of their parts. If you can read just the first two thirds, and then never touch the book again, that would probably be for the best
