I know this wasn't intentional in any way, but it gave me a chuckle and made me wonder:

Should the Escapist think about rewording the feature on the off chance more stuff like this happens?

My suggestion would be to add Article to the end of that so it read "345 people recommend this article."

What do you think?

EDIT: I have been told it's a facebook thing and not an escapist thing, so unless you have something new to add, we can let this thread die.

I think that's an issue with Facebook, not The Escapist itself.
I'm not sure if they can change that.

As the person above me said, recommending is a Facebook feature, not an Escapist feature. Meaning only Facebook has control over how it is worded. Now that the Escapist has the Facebook plugin, people can recommend articles and have them spread through Facebook. And it is a good feature--it makes spreading the Escapist content easier and more efficient.

Plus, if your point here is that you are afraid the image of gaming will be further damaged by people recommending an article like that, I think we have little to fear. The people who don't like video games or are "afraid" of them have already decided they don't like them and why. And people who are more neutral or even know just a LITTLE bit about games will know right off the bat that that sort of thing is not normal behavior among the vast majority of gamers.

I was joking that the wording of it made it sound like the people were recommending we sell our children for video games, not that the article would damage gamer reputation. And seeing as how it has been explained to me that it's a facebook thing, and not something the escapist has control over, theres no real point in this thread continuing

If we changed it, we'd just get rid of the lulz factor from an otherwise utterly depressing story. Everything needs a silver lining, right?

1) We can't - as said, it's a Facebook thing.

2) That's not a good idea? Scratch that budgeting idea off my list then.
