Oh also, maybe this is something you may wanna look into.

That is DC Comics release schedule for September. They're doing a GIANT reboot. 51 new series are coming out in that month. Many classic characters are getting new backstories and stories.

So yeah, you wanna get into Batman. Why not grab yourself a fresh copy of Batman #1?
I was just checking that list and...there's like, what, 6 different Batman series? Good heavens what's what?! I can't pick up all series, I just want the Batman I know and love. Preferably without Robin. The teaser image for Detective Comics looks preeetty damn badass.

Problem is that here in "sunny" old Belgium the only comic book store anywhere near me( and that's almost an hour away) focuses on manga and those rather artsy French/Belgian/German/Dutch comics (Djinn, Apres l'Incal, Le Scorpion,...) of which I'm not the greatest fan.
Doesn't Bol.com deliver in Belgium? They have a surprisingly wide array of comics.

Well you've got Detective Comics which is a Batman thing, if you want more than one I'd say go for that one.

You've got just plain old Batman, that should be a no brainer.

Batman: The Dark Knight...up to you.

Then you've got Batwing, who is a spinoff of the Batman, Inc. comics and is the first Black Batman (and people acted like this is some huge step forward in racial issues in comic books...)

Barbera Gordon is out of her wheelchair now (undoing The Killing Joke sadly) as Batgirl

Yeah, there are a lot of Batman series getting reboots and what-not now. If I had to only pick a few, I'd go with Detective Comics and Batman. But that's just my personal opinion.

Well, what I'm really wondering is; what sets them apart? What's the difference between, say, Detective Comics, Batman and Batman: The Dark Knight? All I know is that they all have Batman in them as all I've read so far are stand-alone stories.

Same goes for Action Comics and Superman. They both have Superman, but what sets them apart? That is, apart from the fact that in Action Comics, he's going to wear jeans.

Well to be perfectly honest I don't really read a lot of those series, so I'm just going to take a guess here, but I would imagine it's just the theme of the comic. Detective Comics for example I assume would focus more on the detective side of Batman than say the Dark Knight would while the Dark Knight may have a bit more bloodied up fights than regular Batman.

Again, not positive, so someone else who reads those series more frequently could give a better answer. I'm just guessing.

If your interested in batman, i would suggest reading as they resect the universe. but sometimes you gotta take a jump. I read (god i suck at names) catalysm and no man's land, You'll need to find a read list though. It was a lot. I'd really suggest it for someone wanting to jump into batman. It gave me a good understanding of a wide range of chareters. enjoyable too of course
