Whoopservatory [http://www.planetphillip.com/posts/whoopservatory-half-life-2-ep2/] is pretty good, if a bit on the short side.

Korsakovia.
It's incredible. Outright incredible.
Made by the Dear Esther team, The Chinese Room. More combat oriented however.

Elevator Source is good for a laugh. There was also a bizarre one for HL2 that put a bunch of weird and humorous shit into the first segment of the game.

I also liked Strider Mountain and Mission improbable.

The stanly parable, one of the only mods I have ever played, and it was great.
I WANT TO KNOW MORE MODS!

Well if you're willing to play some multiplayer mods, these two are pretty fun:

Battlegrounds 2 - Revolutionary War. Choose to play as either the Brits or Americans as you take each other on with old school muskets, pistols, bayonets, swords and tomahawks. Beware, the muskets take a long time to reload and are pretty damn inaccurate.

Pirates, Vikings and Knights 2 - Choose one of the three eponymous factions and battle against the other two. Combat gets pretty damn frantic and it's cool having a third faction to mess things up when you're dueling.

Okay, later guys.
Timesplitters had one of the funny unlocks make all the guns make people noises.

Which one? I don't remember that in 2 or FP.

Future Perfect, I remember it because my flat mates and I were cracking up at the explosives especially.

What are you all on about?

The only mod worth looking at is Day Hard... You'll be laughing most of the way through.

Stanley Parable.

Well, I loved Minerva. Riot Act is also pretty good and nicely fast-paced.

The Hidden: Source is possibly one of my favourite game concepts ever, but I can so rarely find players for it.

Look, I love the Stanley Parable as much as the next pretentious git, but I'm really surprised at how few people apparently read the OP:

Preferably ones with shooty action (as opposed to mods like The Stanley Parable)
SP is the best of them all. He may as well play free games or older instead if his computer lacks the power to run anything better than HL2.

May i recomend the game that ALMOST won over Half Life 1 but didnt make it to the masses? the one that combines Painkiller + HL1 in what could have been the most AWESOME idea ever made but failed miserably? the one that was released 3-4 months after HL1:

"Requiem: The Avenging Angel"

I'd also like to recommend Nightmare House 2. Excellent horror game (and enough action to keep TC happy).

I've been meaning to check out one called Radiator too, as the Stanley Parable creator recommended it in his release notes.

Off-topic: the original Deus Ex has some brilliant mods too. The Nameless Mod is a massive, fully-voiced total conversion mod, The Malkavian Mod has brilliant surreal humour and I hear the recent 2027 is pretty good too.
