Recording Let's Plays

Hey there, I have quite a random question, but I was thinking of recording console games and doing Let's Plays of them, just to post up and give people to watch, y'know? I was wondering, exactly, what could I use to record it well? I tried my laptop, then this digital camera (digital camera worked pretty well, actually but not too good), but the quality is pretty bad.

So, I was just wondering if there was any kind of cheap thing I could use to record good quality console games, such as PS3 games, on an LCD tv.

Most of the console based LP's I've seen were done using capture cards. I'd tell you how they work if I had any clue. Most PC based ones just use a program like fraps or something to record.
If you try and record it with a camera straight off of your TV the quality won't be that great, but it could be passable enough.
My best advice would be to find a good LP'er on youtube and send them a message asking them what their setup is; NintendoCapriSun seems like a fairly nice guy for that. He's done a ton of LP's with his Wii and etc.

I've done a bit of recording for PC games. It was a bit difficult, since what I was using wouldn't sync the sound and video too well so I was forced to shove in music during the game.

But I should ask. Thank you very much for the advice If all else fails, I will just have to record with the digital camera.

Use a capture card for the video and audio of the game, and a microphone for your voice (or several for more than one person). You can buy capture cards at many electronics stores (both PCI and USB ones), so check reviews and do some research before you buy. Also, make sure you have a good mic.

And for the love of the Gods, NEVER use a video camera if you're just going to point it at the screen. It is perhaps one of the best ways to be laughed at on youtube or any other video sites.

Would you know the normal price for a capture card? I'm a bit low on money (and no place in my town will hire me >_<)
