So essentially it would be similar in spirit to The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones?zHellas said:So... It'd be The Crow but set in the Old West?BiscuitTrouser said:Red dead revival. They could kill him off in some DLC then have him come back to life for more western butt kickery.
I like the title, but maybe it's like this: Jack Marston is a very old man on the verge of death(old age, sickness, etc.) and he decides to write a book about his life after shooting Edgar Ross. What he writes about could be him fighting in The Great War, killing some mobsters that somehow do him wrong, and possibly him getting some girl.wooty said:Red Dead Reminiscence, lets you play through the story before the events of RDR so we know fully what went on and playing as the badass outlaws everyone says Dutch's gang was.
Another idea of that might be: Jack Marston as an old man telling his grandchildren about his life. It's basically the same as the first idea.
Hell, if we're going that route, Red Dead Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I betcha Rockstar would make a pretty damn good Indy game. LucasArts could use the help.
Although I would like to see a story for Jack where he grows up a little. I mean, hearing that bitchy "WORK YA DAMN NAG!" again and again gets real old, real fast. Maybe a story that follows him through the first world war and depression era USA, ending with the beginning of the Second World War as seen by Jack at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. I don't think any other game has really done a Pearl Harbor segment, and Jack would be alive (albeit a little old) during the second world war, but all in all he's alive during the most tumultuous time in modern history.
Plus, the western theme could continue, because the Country didn't fully urbanize until well into the fifties. Up until then, people were still living in mostly rural communities. Cars weren't all that common outside of cities, and most roads were dirt. The works programs set up by Roosevelt paved a lot of roads and built a lot of things (like the Golden Gate Bridge) which could be incorporated into the game. Maybe have a segment where Jack "settles down" and has a son of his own to carry on the Marston name? Hell, maybe instead of having Jack go to fight in the second world war, he could watch his son get shipped off. It'd be tough, because Rockstar would have to build an emotional rapport between the player and the character, but it'd be possible.
It'd be great too, because with radio you could listen to the news in addition to buying a paper. It could work. And it could be good. Charting his growth from a troubled youth to a fulfilled father and a good man.
