Yes, you heard it right. It may actually come. It was spotted on Microsoft's Compatibility Center website. It may be nothing, but it may be totally legit.

Any PC gamers on The Escapist interested in the PC version after all this time? I know I am. In fact, I'd pay full price for it before I'd pay full price for GTA V.

Maybe if it has a huge graphical upgrade or a ton of new content. Otherwise I think I'll wait to see how active the modding community is and get it when its cheap, because I have no-doubt it will be a full-priced $60 game if it comes out to the PC.

Played it on PS3. Wouldn't pay to play it again on PC, even at a massively reduced price.

It's not a terrible game, but the combat is auto-aim-reliant arse and in my eyes it overstayed its welcome something fierce.

What? The game never forced you to use auto-aim and unlike something like Crackdown you can play fine without it.

more or less the same answer I'd put, I had my fill back in 2010, even with the zombie DLC and friends, but today I doubt I would if at all.

I bet though if it ever does happen (we have no concrete 100% confirmation atm anyway) I know some here (probably elsewhere no doubt) will treat it as a false victory over something with the added zest of mods making it the ultimate special super duper edition, or you know it could be a 4 (coming up to 5) years old game that came extremely late to the party as is and just buy it or don't and call it a day, I know this kind of news is somehow designed to rub it into the faces of others.

I enjoyed the game on my 360 but unless it comes out at a budget price on the PC, I'm really not going to bother with it.

Are the sales they get really going to make up for the added work?

You can turn it off from the option menu. I did it to earn a trophy for manually scoring a headshot, and kept it that way after that. It drastically improves the game. If anything it gives you a good excuse to use Deadeye for a change.

I enjoyed it a lot, and would no doubt purchase it if it went on sale. The online servers are shutting down on consoles, so if they bring it back to life on PC, I can see mods being very fun.

Just because a listing shows up on a website does not mean a game exists. If it did, we'd all be knee deep in HL2 EP3 hype right now.

Bit late for that. Most of the people who were gonna buy it already bought it for Xbox 360 or PS3.

True, you were never forced to auto aim. It just took the camera like fifteen seconds to turn a few degrees at max sensitivity. You can simply choose to use a really horrible manual aim.

My thoughts exactly. The 360 and PS3 versions are 14 bucks on Amazon. An eventual PC version should offer something more to make me pay a full price.

I've never played it - thankfully... I've kinda sorta been hoping (quietly) that it would eventually find it's way to the PC - and that's when I'd pick it up! :)
Was the same way with Alan Wake... Waited and waited with no sign, but that patience was rewarded!!!

This would absolutely rock - it's one of the few console exclusives (again, like Alan Wake was) that I've been very sorry to miss and have hope and hoped to see on my platform of choice!

The moment I saw it had cheat-oh-aim on, I disabled it - and played through the game two or three times just fine, kicking ass. I think it has some the most satisfying 3rdP shootiness I've played, all of which would've been ruined by cheat-oh-aim, because actually having to aim created many a messy and frenetic gunfight, which I don't think any other game has quite matched.

I whacked it back on during some missions that involved horseback hijinks, as R* has a proclivity to sometimes spam waves of enemies at you.

Only difference between the crappy auto method and actually-using-skillz is the amount of dead horses John leaves behind... Which adds a further twist on combat and the themes of survival, in that I'd always try to spare the steeds. But when you're up against it? Shooting a horse out from under its rider is a surefire way to stay alive, ethics be damned.

RDR's gunplay was the opposite of satisfying to me. I can't think of many games with less satisfying gunplay than Rockstar games. Maybe some very early console ports of FPS designed for PCs.

So I gave up. GTA V, I left it on. If they can't be arsed to care about good mechanics, why should I?

Is GTA IV's multiplayer dead on the PC?

RDR was a great game, and maybe I'd pick it up on a sale on PC if I could get a good run out of the online component. Can only imagine how sexy those graphics will look though.

Now we just have to wait for GTA V.

I'd agree most R* games have fairly rubbish combat and core mechanics, but Red Dead's where I feel they nailed it (haven't played GTAV and probably won't). Narrow interiors sometimes nerfed the camera, as always, but overall I thought it was perfect for the genre (and, as I said earlier, themes of the actual narrative), where gunfights were messy, desperate affairs with lots of lead flying, windows breaking, and dicey scrambles for cover or a fast exit (the physics for impacts also greatly added to the whole experience)

And as Johnny Novgorod mentioned, it balances Deadeye by actually making it useful in a bind (or if you just want to be especially badass for a moment).

The difficulty was very low, too (one of my few complaints about the game), so spamming cheat-oh-matic headshots pretty much shoves the game into autopilot.

So I gave up. GTA V, I left it on. If they can't be arsed to care about good mechanics, why should I?
I think they did [in RDR] - you just weren't keen on it.
