I'm ashamed to say I've never watched Red Dwarf.
It's one of those things I keep meaning to watch but never actually get around to it.

TBH I hear the later series are better....

I actually read a red dwarf book which was a more or less retelling of the first series, it wa smuch more enjoyable than the show itself

I don't know..concept is solid but it kind of falls flat for me

Wait what day are the episodes airing? I need to remember to sky+ it so I don't miss it while I'm in work.

Too many great moments in Red Dwarf but I think my favourite is the talkie toaster.

Series 1 and 2 where fairly average, but pretty much every episode from series 3 onward is comedy gold. Except the back to earth special.

Personally I think the later series were worse, 7 and 8 suffered without a live studio audience and ironically it looked a little too polished. The older series were fun because the props, model and general animations were a little shit.

RD:X has returned to a live studio audience during filming which is very good news!

Awesome! Definitely going to be watching this! I loved the original series, but I haven't actually seen all the episodes. I really should.

From the trailer it seems like they're going back to the old style of humour, rather than the weirdly meta Back to Earth humour, which is good.

What channel does it air on, and is it available online?!?

At the very least this will hopefully mean they stop solely repeatedly playing that episode about the time wand and the dinosaur on Dave. It's a good enough episode, but it's the only one that's ever on. Jeez.

Dave, it airs on Dave. The link's in the OP.

I am very excited. Hugetastic Red Dwarf fan, I used to record the episodes on VHS so I could watch them over and over again. I've even got the BBC 2 Red Dwarf night somewhere; the University Challenge episode is one of my favourites - and the outtakes! Oh man.

Can't wait for the 4th.

Between my girlfriend and I we have all the DVDs, including the Just the Smegs out-takes. They're fantastic. Can't wait for RDX to air.

Season 7 of Doctor Who starts on Saturday.

New season of Red Dwarf to start soon.

BEST YEAR EVER!

I think I've re-watched the series at least a hundred times, and watched the episode "RimmerWorld" a thousand times.

I definitely agree with everything you have said here, with the exception being the very ending of the final episode with Rimmer's "Only the good die young", which is absolutely hilarious.

I still have 1-4 on VHS, the Smeg-ups VHS, 1-8 on DVD, and my very own Mr Flibble.

I don't deny that 7 and 8 had some great moments. But they weren't of the continuous quality that 1-6 were.
