They probably should have come up with a method that didn't "break the rules."

That doesn't mean they should be punished, but still.

....Seriously?

I mean, seriously?

Christ, I need to stop reading these things. They make me hate society more than I already do.

It is just a whistle, so they should be making this big of a deal over it. But the refs could have at least told them before they used them, it is not that hard to ask the committee if it is okay.

Really? It sends a bad message if the refs go unpunished? What message is that? "Hey, these people did something nice and are supporting a good cause, but instead they're getting punished for doing something completely positive and inconsequential to the actual game. I guess showing kids that doing good things makes the world *****-slap you is more important to the school board.

What the hell.

"He claims that letting them continue without punishment would send the wrong message to student athletes."

Whut. Using pink whistles to denote support for breast cancer research sends a bad message to student athletes.

What the fuck.... *sighs*

I was thinking the same thing... who cares about breast cancer? We've got to show everyone that we're manly men and pink is a girly color!

Damn them for bringing my piss to a boil before bedtime. Surely the message of supporting a charity is a good message.

They broke uniform violation and deserve a penalty. It's like how the old saying goes:[HEADING=2]Rules were made to be followed![/HEADING]

You guys have to realize that he probably "banned" them so their publicity stunt would get more attention than just those that attended the game. And guess what? It worked. This morning there was one paragraph about it in the local newspaper(I live in Seattle), and now its on Yahoo and the Escapist.

Because it's not 'uniform'. Seriously, that's just anal. I can't believe they're being punished.

Ok the thing i think makes this sad is summed up by this quote:

They chose not to ask for permission, not to go the right route," Stordahl told KING 5. "It sends the wrong message to kids that are playing the game. 'If they broke the rules why can't I do the same.'"
It's for charity you fucking idiot, how is it a bad example, if anything it is a good one.

Stordahl just sounds butthurt cos they didn't ask his permission.

I love how the reasoning is "THINK OF THE CHILDREN! We could be teaching them that rule-breaking is good!"

Right. Because all kids know that refs are required to wear black whistles.

While a rule was broken, you'd think they could let it slide this time, considering it was for a good cause, and no harm was done to anyone or anything anywhere.

Slightly off-topic, the Susan G Komen foundation is a great one. I donate yearly and participate in our city wide "Race for the Cure".

Christ, why does it matter what colour the fucking whistles are? Shit, do you really need a uniform code for fucking whistles? I just... I don't know what to say. This is just fucking ridiculous.
