Right now, half the nation is in a panic over Ebola. The other half has its head in its hands, desperately trying to explain that they have nothing to worry about before the first half hurts itself. People ignore scientific facts and sensible debates in favor of boundless fear. Shep Smith, a halfway intelligent newsman, has called for an end to fearmongering, and good on him, but people still don't listen. I remember one comment on his video saying, and I quote, 'Let's save this for a month from now, when the epidemic is sweeping the country.' Naturally, my immediate response was to quote from this:

But then I thought to myself, "Yeah. Let's save this moment."

In one month, when the cataclysmic tidal wave of Ebola fails to exceed a double digit body count in America, when the news media has finally given up on scare tactics and resumes looking for flight 370, the conspiracy theorists have moved on to something new (my guess: how voting for a democrat in a voting booth administers an electric shock that wipes all rational thought from your mind), when Republican politicians realize that they are now advocating for healthcare instead of blocking it at all costs - when we reach that point, let's look back at this moment, when the number of cases of Ebola could be counted on one hand but millions of Americans were suffering from severe paranoia.

Oh yes, let's look back at this moment and never forget it.

Half the world is in panic mate.
About a quarter of the world is in danger, mate. We do not live in that quarter.

Another quarter is paranoid. We do live in that quarter.

I don't think the science matters that much. The narrative from who, to you, is obviously the 'other side' is basically that the American people have wanted tighter border controls for ages, the President is ignoring/opposing them, and now somebody with Ebola has just walked into the country and dropped dead, possibly infecting who knows how many people. Is Ebola particularly likely to spread in a country with our sanitation and medical services? No. But it's still extremely vindicating to people concerned about the border. What's more, the media has been making ebola sound like the worse imaginable disease, like the Black Plague times a million, for at least a decade now. I think you can see why people would be not only be in a panic thanks to that, but also a little skeptical of people saying "Ebola? Nah, it's no big deal after all!" just as it comes to the U.S. and a Democratic administration is being blamed for it by some.
I mean, look at your post- you didn't manage to make your point without at least two "Look how stupid Republicans are" jabs that totally had no purpose. So why would they trust what you're saying? Clearly ( to them), you are just saying whatever you have to in order to stick up for your man Obama, or at least that's how it's going to look.
