Regarding pony hate

Hi!
I was in the "Memes you hate" thread, and noticed a lot of people voted for My Little Pony. I'm just curious of why you hate it. I don't think there's much of a reason to, at least not on the escapist. We keep to ourselfes in the MLP group chat, and the only pony you get from us are our avatars. Otherwise we're like any other escapist user. And I don't see you hating on people with, let's say, TF2 avatars, even though there's a lot of people with that too.

why i hate it:

animation looks cheap and like something done on flash (i have a thing against animations studios being cheap when shows like invader zim are animated in beautiful way and get canceled)

The show in the 80s was to sell us toys but everyone knew it was for small girls while this one exist just to leach off nostalgia.

the current show JUST FUCKING SUCKS in both writting and a animation...also character design but thats a given

it somehow turn a bunch of boys into a buch of damn sissies.

NO BODY SHUTS THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT!!!!

Could you please explain why you think we took it too far?

Its quite simple, a couple weeks back every other thread would have pony pictures posted all over it. And by every other I mean enough for people to actually take notice of it and think "what the hell, stop cluttering up my page with pictures that signify nothing".

I think it's unfair to say that the title 'Brony' is being 'obsessive'. It's just a way to name a group that you're a part of. Firefly has Browncoats, Twin Peaks has Peaks Freaks and Farscape has Scapers.

I personally enjoy the show. Yeah, I'm not a girl or little, but I don't let laboured stigma justify hate. Just because a show is popular or has a tarnished reputation from before-times doesn't necessarily make it bad. Look at the Batman movies - after Batman & Robin, who would think that Batman Begins would be a return to form?

I don't make fun of other people's music, TV or film tastes. Leave it be. Some bronies labour the point too much, but those on the Escapist are some of the most intelligent forumites I've seen (also subtle). Brings a bit of class to the already pretty classy joint.

I'll be honest, some of the fan stuff of seen of MLP: FiM is entertaining, fun and even inspired. Other things HORRIFY me, they're like Lovecraft's wet dreams or something. I can see where the hate stems from, too much of anything is bad even if it's just seeing the same kind of avatars over and over. I like MLP, I've watched a couple of the shows and have seen a fair amount of the PMV's and music remixes on YouTube. I am not a Brony as far as I know, but I could be wrong in that. Simply put, the hate of MLP stems not from the show itself, but some fans who took it way too far. Not all fans, not half of the fans, just some that's all.
But I've said this before and I'll say it again:

If you don't like, don't bash others for liking it. Just ignore it.

Maybe some will take this post seriously, or others simply berate it. But that's my view on the subject.

Also to be honest the fandom of ANYTHING IN THE WORLD is annoying. Have you had a talk to a pokemon fan who loves the older games and say how you love the newest ones? Or hell have you even talk to a fan of a Final Fantasy game, they are like the worst trying to explain why a clown or a emo are better then the other (And I'm using the common insult fans used).

I wouldn't call that fandom, more or less just Nostalgia.

Hell, my Nostaligic Glasses thought FF7 was the bomb. Now it looks like pure shit and plays... meh. The Story is convoluted. I much prefer some of the newer ones. If only they could make them in the 'ol 8/16 bit. I always liked that style more

And Pokemon... the originals are the best, only because I don't have to capture 400 PKMN. 150 keeps me sane. 400 makes me want to kill myself T-T

Point of my post was how eff'ing annoying the fans are either way. Also if someone is arguing for something he isn't a fan of he is a moron. Point is fans of anything are annoying, starwars, startrek, ponies, pokemon, final fantasy. If it has a fan base there are fans who are annoying as hell.

1. The animation is pretty good and sleek. But I guess it's just a matter of preferences.
2. Lol, no. I can tell you that most of the people that enjoy Friendship is Magic thinks that the older generations are utter shit. We don't speak of it. IT WAS TERRIBLE.
3. Character design, that's about preferences again. But the stories are well written, don't you say anything else. They're interesting, which is fucking hard to come by in modern cartoons.
4. They turn boys into damn sissies? That comment is bad, and you should feel bad. Looking at your avatar, I'm gonna make this rebuttal:

I'm not exactly sure on the time frame, its anyway from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, i'm not the type to remember the exact time.

If you're expecting me to go digging up the threads, go do it yourself. You asked for an explanation, that's my explanation.

Its the internet. Grass grows, birds fly and haters hate. While I myself enjoy the show, I understand that many people go over the top with there fandom, making full costumes and fan fictions. Also some then simply constantly parrot pony memes which then makes our fanbase seem annoying. Really it isn't much more annoying than any other fanbase, its just getting more attention at the moment because it is relatively new and so many have joined it so fast.

Give it time and the hate will die down as does everything eventually. Hate for Duke Nukem surged when it was released but I haven't seen much recently. Just give it time.

Nothing against the cartoon or people who like it, but the attention seekers going "Oh, look at me, I'm like, a male and an (nearly) adult and I totally dig MLP!" are annoying. Everyone who calls himself brony goes on my personal ignore list.
