I dont hate my little pony, i'm just starting to hate the people who use it as an avatar since every post or topic started by one is nothing but trolling and baiting. Much like this one.

I know i should just ignore it but i keep thinking i will miss out on some kind of valuable information.
Do you people make money that way? if so, please tell me how.
im confused, is your argument that anyone with an mlp avatar is trying to start a flame war? i think this war has long since gotten old. its so silly that the mere mention of this childrens show is enough to start a flame war

It's like the next emo / juggalo / goth movement, those in the cult think it's the shit, and the outsiders are waving fists to get you meddling kids off their lawn!

It's more that it's so overused it's no longer...mildly likeable. Well to me at least. I won't go around actively persecuting you guys for what you like, much like you guys don't persecute me for what I like. It was more of a problem a few months ago, but thankfully it's died down now. The main problem is when MLP is pushed into people's faces and SOME fans just can't take no for an answer.
But there are these fans with everything from Harry Potter to Star Wars to God knows what else. Where they can't accept that other people don't like it and don't want to see it. Using excuses like "THE EPISODES ARE ON YOUTUBE, YOU GOTTA WATCH IT. IT'S THE FIRST GOOD CARTOON IN FOREVER, WATCH MORE THAN THE FIRST EPISODE. LOOK AT THE ANIMATION, THAT WAS ONLY DONE ON PHOTOSHOP, OH MAI GOD GAIS, FRIENDSHIP, LOL, JOIN THE HERD~~~!" No. Not good, shut up, you're making people hate you and the show and you're giving the fans a bad name.
Avatars? No problem. Love em'. Support what you like. It's more when there's a completely different topic being discussed and some 'Bronies' just can't keep their mouths shut about the show, posting references at any given chance and responding to any critisism with something about everyone being haters and needing more 'Friendship'. Though as I said, this isn't much of a problem anymore and the majority of them chat about it in their group, which is A-OK and I bet it's even better there because there are no 'haters' to stop them. Everyone is happy.

Not to mention some people just don't like overly-popular things, this isn't exclusive to MLP.

I don't "Hate" anything about it. I hate the KKK, I HATE Jack Thompson. Hate is too strong of a word.

In fact, I don't even dislike the show itself!
I do however, quite dislike the people who are major fans.

Two reasons.

1) The show just isn't that good. It's [i/]slightly[/i] above average animated show and yet it has the most dedicated, hardcore fanbase of ANYTHING I have seen in the past years.

2) Everything about the fans just irritates the fuck out of me. Particularly the words used, but nearly everything they do related to their beloved show just get's under my skin like nothing else can.

It's because a lot of people just like something easy to hate.

I have it on good authority from someone who lives in Chicago (and therefore does drugs) that the show is only slightly less entertaining when clean.

Because no one would ever shut the fuck up about it and you turned a simple TV show into something closer to a fucking religion.

*EDIT* Oh, and everytime someone disliked it you would keep asking why. For the amount I dislike the Furry communities attitude regarding 'hate' and their 'lifestyle', at least I kind of understood them.

For me it's because

1. It's overly positive
2. It's a girly kids show
3. It's everywhere
4. It's an overused meme

If I see someone with a MLP avatar I simply can't take them seriously.
Why would you say that?

1. yeah ok maybe, but it makes me happy when skies are grey
2. yes, but it's designed to appeal to all ages and genders
3. yes, yes it is
4. it isn't a meme, it's a fandom...but it does spawn a lot of memes

That last line hurts man, it hurts.
I can understand if you dislike it, but that's no reason not to take someone seriously

Well...Put it this way.

Not even 4chan could cope with you bronies, so what makes you think that an Intellectual site such as the Escapist can.

It was okay at first "hey guys, look at this cool new my little pony show, it's kinda good." but then it slowly turned into more than that, and it's 4chan roots began to seem more apparent with each passing day.

Now, the Escapist is starting to hate you guys, and it's all your fault at the end of the day.

If you really truly liked it, You wouldn't be going on about it every five minutes. You don't see me going on about Pizza's or something in every post I make, do you?

I've already done that. Weeks ago. I found no threads that were derailed by ponies. It's the reason I want you to show me. I've seen other complain about this too, but when they are asked about proof they ignore it.

The insane amount of pony threads was probably a bit(this is probably an understatement) annoying though, but that's what happens when something new and popular finds its way to the internet.
Well, its not like it came out of nowhere. What i'm wondering is why you're so defensive of a pony meme that lets be honest, doesn't need defending. Its there, people have noticed it and the notice didn't come from it being hidden.
I'm not trying to be defensive. I'm just annoyed by all the recent threads that just end up with people hating on MLP.

I want to see what they base their hate upon since they keep talking about the derailed threads. And I'm not so stupid that I can't see why people hate a show(any show for that matter), I just want to see those threads! Lets just call it a minor obsession.

And it's not a meme! xD
At least not the show itself, but holy shit, the fandom spawned way too many memes.

Because this My Little Pony fad is something that attracts meme-spouters, ironic hipsters, and helpless manchildren who watch little girls' cartoons. And that is just ridiculous.

Really? lolnope. We were actually accused of it earlier in the thread. In fact someone even joined the group just to tell us how gay we were. Other than that, we never do any of those things. Not on the escapist at least.
Really, you speak for all the people that watch the show and oversee everything they write? How do you manage it, in a "We are the Borg" way or an "ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL" way? Fact is that there's been a lot of real touchiness over watching a TV show for little girls. If you can't hack some fairly mild criticism of something you happen to like then frankly people will find that annoying.
I'm not saying we can't take criticism, and I don't know where you got the first question from. But some hate goes too far. See "I wanna rip the users gullet out via their anus". I wasn't trying to start something here. Though if I'm right in thinking of where you got your first question from, then I was only speaking about us in the escapist group. Sorry for angering you in any way.

God I just hate bronies, they're all up in your facewith cheerfulness and happyness. Plus we love the smug feeling of superiority we get from mocking others for their interests. and what about those bloody imigrants, coming over here, stealing our jobs. It's fun to be intollerant.

I thought the reason why Touhou was popular was because it has its own porn side business? You know the Otakus, they love little children. /sarcasm.
I'm still trying to understand everything myself. According to my research, it's because of ZUN's, uh... less-than-stellar [http://en.touhouwiki.net/images/f/f9/Th13Reimu.png] artistic ability [http://en.touhouwiki.net/images/7/70/Th13Marisa.png].

To be fair, I don't think he's terrible, but I wouldn't buy an artbook from him.

Also, the music featured in game, which features some of the best composition this side of your average JRPG. I prefer the metal [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPUeU4ZZw8w] remixes [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsMNqUVv3mQ] myself. Furthermore, the universe has a metric fuckton of flexibility, hence that porn side-business you jokingly speak of.

Keep in mind I actually have sat down down and played and they're not quite my cup of Kool-Aid (save the 2-player versus one, I actually like that one). But all this is another subject.

Also, I am sorry if you thought us 'bronies' are overbearing. It is mainly the trolls that do it. We usually keep to ourselves.
You're right, and I apologize for that over-generalization. But you know how it goes: to wit, if all you see of black people is a bunch of pant-sagging thugs with poor diction, how are you to know that there are some of us willing to engage in polite conversation about children's cartoons?

It's kinda the same thing here, if that makes any sense. But I prefer to take the high route - simply stay quiet, and go about my business while letting you go about yours.

Know Your Meme calls it Troll Bait, but I don't see many results of it when I Google it.

If liking MLP is wrong then I don't want to be right.

By the way, first episode of MLP:FIM on youtube....over 2 million views. They're not Katy Perry numbers but it's still respectable. Dude, Katy Perry should totally voice Octavia.
