"its become like the Powerpuff Girls- a cartoon with female protagonists, but fair game for everybody." nah, that's still a cartoon for little girls, don't get me wrong nothing was funnier to me as a child than hear hearing Mojoe Joe Joe say his name but my mum isn't going to gain anything other than boredom from watching either that or MLP.

I have seen about half an episode before I condemned it to "childish fad", I very highly doubt there is anything more than pretty colours and whimsical characters.

It just sounds like loads of people trying to make something sound cool and deep where there is nothing like that to be had, like an art critique claiming a black canvas with a white dot in it shows passion and depth about how it symbolizes the meaning of life ... or some crap like that. It's a just a black piece of paper with a dot of the opposite colour in it, any moron putting no thought into could do that but I am rambling now.
Your talk of postmodern art is a discredit to your argument- saying that minimalist work is invalid because anyone could create it demonstrates that you are perfectly willing to judge something when you have no idea what you are talking about.

Why the hell people treat it as the second coming of Christ beats the fuck out of me.
Short answer, we don't. Things just get exaggerated on the internet.

I'm pretty sure MLP is marketed towards little 5-10 year old girls. My cousin had them when she was little.
Same name, different show.

I'm also going to let the show's creator do some of the talking.
(sorry for the big pictures)

But do you see ALL games being targeted to ALL gamers? God knows I played Diablo 2 when I was 8, but the main audience was 18+. Same with GTA, Larry, Hitman, Wolfenstein, Quake and other games that are targeted at adults. Those "Only Mature Audience" sticked says so.
He was being sarcastic.

For me it's because

1. It's overly positive
3. It's everywhere
4. It's an overused meme

If I see someone with a MLP avatar I simply can't take them seriously.
I agree with this (I took out point 2 because I have nothing against girly kids shows in general).

I just don't think that the show is really that good to have such a large and obvious fanbase. There's so many other good shows and good animes but people are just going along with MLP because it's popular at the moment.

Dude, Katy Perry should totally voice Octavia.
NO!

She's my favorite character. Don't ruin her for me D:
She'll make the character 10 times better, I'm telling you it'll work. Besides she didn't have any speaking lines to begin with.
I would prefer if she stayed a background character. I like the fan given personality she has.
NOOOO!!! She needs to be given a voice, a personality, feelings, emotions. Can't you see it? It. Can. Work.

1) TF2 isn't about girly little ponies
2) What do you mean it doesn't affect us? Ponie threads are everywhere and it is mentioned all the time, even when it is completely unrelated.
3) Take pride in your gender, don't like ponies
4) It would be less irritating if people stopped talking about it and kept it to themselves.
What.

1) The conflicting image of ponies playing TF2 is hilarious, not to mention some character connections people have made (rainbow dash is scout, Twilight is sniper for example) are fitting to a "T"

2) No one is making you read any of those threads. Even when it is "mentioned all the time, even when it is completely unrelated" how does this detract at all from your web-browsing experience? Threads not about ponies are in no way hindered by a pony thread existing next door.

3) What, exactly, is inherently feminine about horses, anyway? In ages past, only men could ever hope to own a horse. They were seen as symbols of power and masculinity, the powerful beasts of the knights.

Besides that, no matter how girly the show is, if you had any "pride in your gender" at all, you can like anything you want and never let anyone tell you it makes you less of a man. Remember that old euphemism, "real men wear pink"? Social gender roles are totally fabricated by humans; they're completely different between species; it's just something humans made up.

4) They do, for the most part. Pony threads exist for this reason.

It's because people have ponies as avatars. Ponies as avatars. On the Escapist. It's just... it's just going too far.

I hate MLP due to the fans, the people who make out like their brave gender stereotype challenging iconoclasts for liking it, the ones who try and claim that liking it make them better than those who dont.
Dont kid yourself your watching a little girls programme, dont get all defensive when people point that out, just watch it and enjoy yourself.

Probably because like any meme, people think it gets over-used, spammed, etc. and people thst didn't like it in the first place, hate it.
To ironically quote a meme: "Haters gonna hate"

Also, I love the show.

I enjoy the show because it's cute, funny, and reminds me of when I was young and loved Sailor Moon. I'm not a "brony" (does that term even apply to female fans?) or anything, I just like to watch My Little Pony and I'm going to keep watching it.

Well... if you insist.

I admit that it would be interesting, though I think Vinyl Scratch would get a voice sooner than Octavia.

My problem with it is that so many people seem to only be in it to be one of the 'cool kids'.

I mean, the way they speak about it just makes me think they're making this face as they say it:

"It's really good, you should watch it!"

That's a fake smile by the way.

Im happy you found something you like but really, I don't care, stop talking about it all the time.

You know, that could be said about almost anything with an above average fanbase.

But I get your point.

I'm not faking smiles though.

I don't give a fuck about it. But seeing it everywhere gets annoying as hell. Yes, you like a TV show. Fantastic.

You

*honestly*

think people are watching a children's show about technicolor ponies to be "cool kids"?

I haven't care about what makes an individual a "cool kid" in a very long time, so I'm no expert on the subject. But last I checked, watching children's cartoons is not a viable method of being considered a "cool kid" by your peers, or by anyone.

Sure, ponies are cool. I love the show. But take an objective step back here. You think I, or anyone for that matter, will announce to the world that "Twilight Sparkle is the best pony" to the world for the sole purpose of being "cool"? I find that hard to believe.

It's a show for 5 year old little girls; that now you, probably an older teenage are watching. I don't like it because most of you who watch this SHOW FOR 5 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRLS are just people who are into it because the rest of the internet is, because you wanna fit in with a stupid ass group.
Everyone knows video games are just toys for little kids. Honestly I think it's pretty obvious that teens/adults who play video games are just sad, lonely, developmentally retarded shut-ins. Imagine if you devoted all that time and energy to something important, like football! Don't you know this computer games thing is just a fad that will blow over, and you'll be left with nothing but wasted time? If you don't believe me, just watch Fox News (the only news station that hasn't been bought out by corporate interests trying to push that poisonous hobby)!
Big difference is that the show isn't an entire artistic medium, there are games out there designed specifically for children as there are also cartoons designed for adults.

Im not hating on the show, I don't like it or this following it's gathered but when it comes down to it I don't give a damn about it, im just pointing out the obvious fallacy of your argument.

I seem to have a unique(?) definition of art, I think art is something I couldn't do or do with only training. Mona Lisa is something I couldn't even come close to, so it's art, playing guitar well is an art, mma I would even slot into art.

A blank piece of paper with a dot in the middle isn't. Even the phrase "post modern" doesn't make sense to me, post = after and modern = present. It would be like past "modern" or "past post", maybe I am just being very derpy at the moment but we all live in ignorance.
