Yeah I would, it seems like even if the personality changes weather it's a lot or a little you still keep some memories so yeah I'd do it when I got really old or was mortally wounded or something.

Nope, no thank you. Infact, The Doctor tells you why you shouldn't.

Just the first 30 ish seconds explains it.
The 10th Doctor was an angsty egotist who went so far as to try and get 11 killed for good (flying up in the TARDIS and blowing it up from the inside). None of the other versions of the Doctor had these hangups about regeneration; the 4th even went so far as to prepare a personality for his in advance.

Anyhow. Regeneration? Why not. If I'm in the position at which I'm DEAD, I may as well let someone else have a go at being me. Even if they're not really me, they still have my memories, they own my stuff - they can follow up on any hobbies or projects I left unfinished, and so on. Good luck, Me 2.0.

Personalities change anyway. A sudden change is a bit different from the usual experience, but I don't feel that it stops a person from being that person. Neither does an alteration to their appearance. They retain their memories and reside within (effectively) the same body and presumably the same consciousness. That, I feel, is what is important.

So, to me, the question boils down to "would you like to live or die?" Basically, yes. Yes I would.

I wouldn't want to step into a teleporter for the exact same reason why regeneration is something I wouldn't have an opinion about - I'm dead.

Personally, I believe (But do not know obviously) that we do something like that every time we die anyway.

How do you know you don't die and are reborn every smallest amount of time? Your conciousness changes so often; for example, do you even feel like the guy you were yesterday is the same guy you'll be tomorrow?

I don't know :p Just a little believe, no worries.

And I'd totally regenerate and use transporters, as long as my memory remains intact it's not truly death.

I love the concept of regeneration, and of course I would accept it if I was dying. It is such an awesome idea, although I disagree with the people who say he becomes a completely 'new' person. You can still see the Hartnell in troughton's performance, you can still see the Troughton and Hartnell in Pertwee's performance. You can see a lot of 4,5,6,7 and 8 in 10s performance. I think most actor's understand that underneath the new faces he is the same man, and has to be portrayed as such, minus a few new character quirks in each incarnation. Even if it was you who regenerated, it would still be you despite the new face, and perhaps a new favourite food.

Honestly... yeah, I'd do it in a heartbeat. My body's already pretty damn busted up. I do what I can to keep it from breaking down the rest of the way, but it's a losing battle [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2knWCuzcdJo]. If I had the option to hit a randomized re-do at the end of that battle, I'd take it.

Also, this concept is about as sci-fi as the Force. Nothin' wrong with magical handwaves, but they're definitely more fantasy than sci-fi.

Not exactly the same, but I suffered from TBI about a decade ago and survived. As far as I knew before waking up, I was dead (I remember dying).

Memory mostly intact except for everything before age 10 or so. The biggest change was my personality. I did not recognize this at first, but many people who knew me from before the events told me I was a completely different person. Used to be described as antisocial and mean whose only goal was money, I became a pretty good guy who teaches elementary school kids. In essence, I am me, but I definitely am not the person I used to be. Am I who I am?

For those of you wondering: no, changes did not happen because I thought my life was precious after the incident and so on. It wasn't voluntary.

Another thing to note by the way is that it's not guaranteed to work. It might not save you from drowning for example.
That's in interesting thought - if the Doctor were trapped underwater, drowned, and regenerated, would he just keep regenerating over and over every time he drowned?

I think if the Doctor takes a fatal injury during the change, it automatically kills him.

DR who style regeneration where i lose my personality is still death in my point of view my personality and views are an integral part of me if that changes i am no longer me and combined with a new body is just another person taking my memories and that is something i will not abide by
Commonwealth saga style regeneration or rejuvenation as they call it on the other hand i could go for hell i would grab that in a heart beat

I see no real downside, honestly. My awareness continues, even if the lens through which I view the world (my personality) shifts, which might be relatively small actually. And even if I was to die doing it(as someone else quotes the doctor on), if I'm dead, why not give some new guy a chance at life. I enjoy living, so why should I refuse to allow the next fellow a chance? Spite?

I wouldn't do it unless it was to stop myself from dying, mind. While I don't mind the idea of shifting my attitude to stop death, it's still not something I would just do.

Die or regenerate?

Regenerate every time.

Worst case scenario is another version of me is still free to influence the world while I'm dead, better than me just being dead in my opinion.

Best case scenario, I'm still alive, and just have a new face to look at in the mirror.

...Tough call. Sure, I'd live longer, but I'd have a radically new personality and appearance, and that would get confusing for people I know...
