He's basically covering Nintendo's arse, saying a lot without saying anything. Vague promises aren't enough to sell me on believing another Metroid game is coming (granted, we technically got one last year, but I suppose "technically" is the clear word).
But hey, Nintendo, if you want to revive some franchises, you can start with Advance Wars and Golden Sun. Pretty please?

Although I am a massively biased Nintendo fanboy, even I can tell that Nintendo has no plans whatsoever for Metroid.

I'd assume the "HYPE!!!!" bit was sarcastic, but considering the OP I'm sure it was meant as genuine.

people were getting hyped over The last guardian for 9 bloody years with having literally zero hints or confirmation of it still coming out. that was perfectly ok for Sony fans to do though. wouldn't matter if i was eager to call people out about it or not, Sony fans would still "jizz their pants" over TLG and that would be perfectly fine regardless of what anyone else thought

Not really. They were hyped the first two years after it was announced with a trailer and an actual title, then lost that hype once it was revealed the production was in trouble -- at which point it became a vapor ware joke -- then regained some of that hype once it got a proper in-game trailer at E3 '15 along with a release date.
With this you got nothing except Reggie saying something might happen.
