^^The picture [https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/7cw2m9/update_ea_announces_plans_for_next_gen_controller/?st=JSKGXIA3&sh=4e6bea6f] from the comments says it all.

The sad part is these execs would think nothing of it. They are operating from a bubble of oblivion and denial. Surely the vocal minority?s impact must have begun to be felt by now.

I feel this dictates a true end of an Era for Nintendo, with both Satoru Iwata & Reggie gone there's really only Miyamoto up there that I can respect and I don't think he still holds the power within the company he used to have, in any case Nintendo won't be the same without him but I wish him the best on his retirement, not that he needs the wishes since he was well paid but it's one of the few CEOs that I don't think is human garbage, so he deserves it.

Satoru Iwata? Eiji Aonuma?

Reggie was overrated. Yeah, I said it. He was President of Nintendo...of America. A branch that doesn't actually make games. They just sell the stuff to Americans that the actual developer Nintendo makes. Reggie is just a guy who's skill is 'Being a CEO'. Before that he worked at a bunch of different companies, nothing to do with gaming, all as a marketing CEO. He is just a corporation salesman. He apparently was good at his job though cause he successfully marketed himself as someone better than he was. He is a professional corporate shill.

I liked the guy as well but what exactly did he do, other than put on a friendly face in marketing? Isn't NOA just along for the ride?
Sometimes, that's enough. Someone to come around and tell us what's what. Someone who doesn't talk down to us. Someone who is honest and is a straight shooter.

Essentially, Reggie (and Nintendo) are the anti-Blake Jorgesen [https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2017/11/14/ea-cfo-blake-jorgensen-explains-why-they-love-microtransactions/] and Andrew Wilson [https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-06-09-ea-ceo-damage-control-speech-we-want-to-be-better]
That's ok and all but he was just a salesman. He was good enough that even someone like me who doesn't usually buy Nintendo knows who he was and that he's a "nice guy" but at the end of the day he was a marketing exec, not the creative backbone of Nintendo. It's the difference between, I dunno, Thomas Pynchon and the person who prints his books.

You're absolutely right.

And the corner stone guy might be nice to you, might know a few things about you, and might even genuinely like you as a person if he got to know you. But at the end of the day, both of you want to exchange currency for goods and then to be on your way.

Doesn't stop you from liking his personality if you like his personality. Even if it's one he adopts to facility in selling.

Again, he did that aspect well. Some of us dug it. Especially with how other marketing execs have been. Reggie and Andrew are just the mouthpieces. Like you say, they barely have any input on what game comes next, if any. But one hasn't steered us wrong, and one you can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. That weighs with a lot of people.

I did, but I'm wondering why someone like Iwata isn't in your good graces. The man seems to have had a good moral core, particularly rare for an executive, and made a worthy artistic contribution.
