Being with a girl with "issues" is what got me traumatized in several ways, which is why I would prefer a stable, emotionally intact partner next.
Yeah, seriously, this is a deal breaker for me now. Last time I tried to help she became overly dependant and nearly broke me mentally. Really not cool.

OT: restricting what I do, including trying to distract me from uni work when it needs to be done. You're important yes, but so is my volleyball team (including nights out), my uni work and my friends. I want to spend time with you, but I do need to spend time on other things. Please understand this.

My dealbreaker is when guy has horrible text messaging skills.
Bad spelling, bad grammaer, and just bad conversation is a turn off.
LoL He never even bothered to use a spell checker at least?
yeah, and I have a typo in the post myself. LOL

But you know, the type that does not come up in your spell check like there/thier bear/bare etc.
Actually you have 2, no e in grammar and deal beaker is 2 words.

What's your deal breakers in a relationship. What are the things your Significant Other could do that would be unforgivable no matter how much you were in love with them.

1. Cheating - No excuses in my book, on top of which it's a health risk.

2. STDs/ Bad HPVs - I'm clean and intend to stay that way.

3. Listening to Justin Bieber - Self explanatory

4. Being too religious - I find religion to be an obsolete relic, mankind would be better off separating himself from these superstitious beliefs ASAP.

5. Massive weight gain - I may get flamed for this one but seriously if you don't care about your own health.....

6. Trying to Kill Me - You knife me it's over sorry.

7. Becoming too absorbed in MMOs - If it's all you want to do all day long you need to quit.

8. Stealing my stuff - Don't steal my stuff

9. Smoking - Big anti-smoker

Yours?
Pretty much all of the points you made- besides the MMO one.
I don't need that much attention and I'll happily play the MMO besides you ;)

Keep in mind I was referring to excessive use, like interfering with daily activities, necessities and maybe hygiene.

Excessive use in anything is a bad thing - so yeah I'll agree on that.
I'm fine if they sink a lot of time into it but it shouldn't stand in the way of important things.

It's okay, you can say it just looks disgusting, nothing wrong with that.

Anyway, my dealbreakers
-Being religious or into the paranormal
-Not into games
-Anti-smoking and/or anti-drugs
-Lack of intelligence
-Unattractiveness
-Glued to a smartphone
-Wishing to have kids

Kinda of a contradiction there IMO
Want to explain as to why you think this is a contradiction?

Mind you, I mean people who are so against substance use that they try to change the people around them.

Dishonesty. I'm hesitant to say cheating because I could see an open relationship working ok but I'd need the other person to be honest about what they're up to and not go behind my back.
Excessive Drug Use. Casual usage of most things doesn't trouble me, but if it starts getting toward the point where people can't function then they need to sort it out.
Too Closed Minded. People who automatically disregard anything that goes against their point of view or isn't within their comfort zone annoy me. That goes for everything from music tastes to religion.
Religion is an odd one. I think that anyone who believes in the literal word of any religious text is probably an idiot, as is anyone that uses religion as an excuse to be homophobic or whatever. That said, I know a handful of Christian people who're able to recognise the importance of some of the good lessons, disregard the more extreme sentiments, and are at least open to the idea of evolution and so on.

Won't Communicate - I'm not a mind reader so if she won't talk to me and communicate what she wants and what she's feeling I can't work with her.

I cannot wrap my head around how smart people can smoke. I kinda get weed I did a little in University/College, but it got me high. What does smoking get you, bad breath and lung cancer.

Deal Breakers to me ...

Lack of honesty - If you blatantly lie to me, or refuse to tell me if something's wrong, get the hell away from me.
Lack of intelligence - I'm talking actual intelligence, not measured. Chronic naivety and stupidity will get you kicked out straight through the door.

Nothing I really care about else. Not gonna tell you how to live your life, as long as you stay honest with me, and at least think shit through.

Stress relief. Plain and simple.

I don't think nicotine actually provides stress relief other than satisfying the craving. Beside I can think of much better stress relievers.

Oh, I certainly agree, it makes no sense in practice. But I do get the theoretical concept. I mean, stress relief for me is mostly alcohol, which isn't exactly healthy either - it works, for some reason (be it psychology or chemistry).

Well alcohol in small amounts is actually good for you, not to mention without it there would be no magic hour or I should say bad decision hour. Which is around 1:00am-2:30am at parties or bars. It's not just for the guys either, ladies if there is a guy out of your league you can get him in bad decision hour easy.

About the only thing that is an absolute turn-off for me is unkindness. I do not like Nasty People. I do not like people who make fun of people so that they can feel good about themselves. No matter how attractive someone is, I will not date or love an unkind person.

Anyone who hurts other people for profit, self-service or fun is a bad person. Anyone who enjoys hurting animals is a bad person. Anyone who steals, constantly lies, or is just mean-spirited is someone I could never, ever love. Not even for a second.

1 - Religious. Religion is a dying relic of a bygone era and I cannot abide the presence of anyone who subscribes to it.
2 - Intolerant. I refuse to degrade myself by associating with anyone who would demonstrate intolerance towards the views and beliefs of another.
3 - Unintelligent. As the verbosity of my statements clearly indicates, I am a man of unparalelled intelligence incapable of conversing with those who lack intelect of near equivalence.
4 - Egotistical. Ego is highly unbecoming in a potential partner, and I will have nothing to do with any who possess it to an inordinate degree.
5 - Hypocritical. I won't suffer contact with any person who would hold others to different standards than those to which they hold themselves.

Thank god for sarcasm tags. I was fully prepared to take you seriously, considering how this entire thread is :|

Well let's see?.

1. Smoking. Yeah I understand that you like to light up once in a while but I can not stand the smell of smoke. It makes me so fucking dizzy sometimes.

2. Too Religious. I believe in God, you believe in God, and that's cool because my mom will definitely like you. However, if you talk about it too much in places I believe have no place for religion (school, politics, sports), or bring it up in too many conversations, then I'll get annoyed and say something un-holy to you.

3. Too Atheistic(?). I believe in God, you don't and that's cool too. I don't have a problem with that. I will have a problem if you start bashing on my religion, family, and friends because the thought of us believing in a deity that is "all knowing" and "caring" is idiotic to you, then I guess we weren't meant to be.

4. Assaulting Me (physically, emotionally, mentally). Just because I'm a bit of a pushover and people pleaser, that doesn't give you the right to force your will on me. Also, if your will involves me as your puppet/slave, then it is over.

5. Withholding Information. I'm not a mind reader so I won't be able to tell if you want to go to that play on Sunday. Tell me these things, tell me what's wrong with you so I can help instead of assuming that I already know. Because, to be honest, I can be really, really, REALLY dull at times.

I think it's pretty arrogant to say "I would never date a smoker, drinker, person of this faith, person of this ideology, etc." as if such people would ever show interest in you to begin with given how hostile and intolerant you are towards their beliefs and behaviours.

I could say "I would never date a right winger!" but it is equally true that "A right winger would never date me." The former implies that I'm forced to constantly turn down right wingers who throw themselves at me, when in reality right wingers probably have as low an opinion of me as I have of them. "I would never date a smoker because I think they're gross" is also disingenuous because it ignores the flipside, which is "A smoker would never date me because I carry on like a precious little princess whenever they light one up".
"A smoker would never date me because I carry on like a precious little princess whenever the light one up" may just be the best thing I ever heard on this forum.
