The "NX must and musn'ts" topic has been done to death recently, especulating about specs, backwards compatibility, cartridges viability, launch titles and how many screens the controller is going to have, etc. But here let's talk about the things people are not talking about: details, minor things, the ones not at the top of the priorites list, but would be very much appreciated with the new console.
Online store: Unlike the 3DS eshop who kept ALL of the DSiware games, the Wii U eshop did not maintain the WiiWare's library and althought it was fairly limited, there were still a lot of good games that were possible to get there such as Cave Story, the Konami ReBirth series (that include Castlevania, Contra and Gradius), Tales of Monkey Island series, etc. They can still be bought and played on the Wii mode of the Wii U, but that's way more work than it needed to be. So online backwards compatibility is something to keep in mind.
Multiple control support: So yeah, Smash and Super Mario 3D World and a lot of Wii U games connect with multiple kinds of controls, not only the GamePad and the Pro Controller, but also the Classic Controller, the WiiMote (w/ and wo/ Nunchuk) and the GameCube adapter, so I think they should keep those options would be viable if we already had one of those controllers, but do not want to buy new ones.
A new/improved social network: If you have a Wii U or 3DS, you probably know about the Miiverse, its all the features of Facebook, with the strictness of a forum and the usefulness of an AOL messenger. I think it's the "30 comments a day" limit thing that kinda kills it, I know the moderators must keep their mental sanity, but they could be a little more lax, especially since Swapnote and Pictochat are no longer a thing.
A new "New Play" series: During the Wii era, Nintnedo decided to re-launch select GameCube titles to work with the WiiMote + Nunchuk, with varying results, I think that some Wii and U games could use a little treatment to adapt to whatever new controller they come up with.
Do something about the Wii brand: I'm not talking about the name of the console, I'm talking about the series of games that showcase the features of the Wii (Wii Sports => the WiiMote, Wii Resort => Motion Plus, Play/Party/Motion => splitscreen multiplayer), hear me out, I think that among the millions of Wii Sports that went with Wii consoles, I think a decent fraction of them stuck with the casual audience and some will come back for more; and Nintendo even had plans for Wuhu Island, where it all takes place. Or they could just make another Nintendo Land, a tech demo collection for the new hardware. Whether you like it or not, expect to see the Miis back in whatever form they come in.
Achievements: Why not? I don't see their appeal, but a lot of people do and I think this could be a use for the My Nintendo thing.
Aesthetic: Since they're not trying to be X1 or PS4, might as well not be a black rectangle, at least be small.
Controller layout: Not sure about this one, give me your opinions on the GamePad and Pro Controller's button placement, the analog sticks above the D-pad and the action buttons.
That's all I could think of, do you think there is something minor the NX should or shouldn't do? Let's try to keep it minor and efficient, but not necessarely deal-breaking if they don't show up.
