The game has the horrible issue of looking like crap, and requiring a DOS emulator to run.
However, with improved graphics, higher max resolution and a fixed menu system, this would be the greatest exploration game ever!

In the short hour that I tried playing this, I visited 2 cold dead worlds, and a third world that had a massive crater 5 km deep and 1 km wide.
You got me interested in this game. Is there any actual goal to it or is it just "visit next random world" thing?

Also for me it would be:

MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Sniper Elite, yeah I know it's not that old but I'd love to see a remake or sequal.

Sniper : Ghost Warrior is similar game, though I didn't play it because it got bad reviews.

OP: ummmmmm the Original Red Faction, Guerilla was good but not as good as RF 1

For me, i'd quite like KotOR with souped up graphics, a slightly bigger active map (to cut down the 'run through main square, to get to a door to get to a door to your destination' thing) to reduce loading and travel, maybe amp up the combat animations a bit, and add plenty of dlc style endgame content.

How about you? What slightly (or incredibly) dated game would you overhaul, and bring in to this gen? Let's throw out perfect dark zero, and bring in perfect dark 2.0!
Can't agree with you more about KOTOR

I'd like to see those old Carmen Sandiego games turned into an action mystery manhunt.

I'd like to see newer graphics & less wonky controlls on Grim Fandango.

Wouldn't mind if Diablo or Baldurs Gate went 3D. (3D as is unflat CG, not glasses-wearing 3D).

They already did Wolfenstein (and failed), so I think I'd like to see how developers could make Pong interesting to today's market.

Cover based table tennis in a post-apocalyptic near future where only those with the Power of The Paddle survive. Add achievements/trophies for appropriate platforms.

Christ... KOTOR is old for you? What do you call Goldeneye, or Quake II? Or god forbid, Wolfenstein 3D, Beneath a Steel Sky or previous games? Ancient?

On topic: None. I might be "that guy" here, but why would we remake games? Generally speaking remakes are the last stand of the terminally unimaginative.

Not to mention, good games were generally designed the way they were ALSO to account for the technological limitations... Change that, and suddenly a lot of things are arbitrary. Take Mario for instances. He was originally designed the way he was so he was recognizable on the very low resolution and color scheme available at the time. It's not that Miyamoto had a hard on for ridiculously dressed Italian plumbers. The whole thing happened for a variety of reasons [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario], a lot of which have been lost in the process, rendering a lot of the design, currently arbitrary.

And honestly, why remake something? We know how it's going to play out. Why make something that was possible on old technology, with new technology? Just make something new. And better.
Snap! a lot of old games grace would most certainly be lost in trnaslation, People are used to different things, if you tried to remake certain old games you'd just end up pissing off all the fans of it, because it could never truely be the same,
e.g if you turned say, baldurs gate into dragon age, i would be sick... with rage.

imagine all the things that old games allowed that just arent accepted in modern gaming; floating head speech,
description textboxes, imagine fallout without these things... CLEARLY it would not be the same.

I want the System Shock games remade
Why I frowned upon Bioshock 2 with much hate and dislike. Absolute milking when they could have added a new chapter to the System Shock.

OT: Hitman. So much potential with new gen.

What the OP said.

If not, Morrowind, It would be vastly improved by voice acting and a combat overhaul

Pirates of the Caribbean.

If that title confuses you, then look up what "Sea Dogs 2" became when Disney merged with Bethesda back in the day.

If you know and have played this game, you'll be with me on this one.
Sea Dogs was the best Pirate RPG I've ever played.

Sid Meirs can go civ himself with his "Pirates!".

I did play it, it's not that bad but it just isn't the same type of game.

Ghost warrior plays a little more like an action oriented FPS much of the time, plus while the sinping is affected by wind and gravity, it doesn't matter since there's a red dot telling you where thew bullet will go thus taking the point out of it, in my eyes at least.
