Wouldn't mind seeing a remake (or at least, update) of New Horizons, the old 17th century sailing sim. I imagine it would be similar to Sid Mier's Pirates!, but a bit more sim-y (have to carry supplies, an entire world to explore, more countries to ally with or piss off, etc.).

A new, streamlined Jade Cocoon would be interesting. Maybe take some battle tips from SMT: Nocturne.

As for a straight, moment for moment remake, Super Mario 64. It would be doable, just recoat the entire thing with Mario Galaxy's graphics and updated gameplay. Would take a game that has aged rather badly and make it terrific again.

X-Com. And not that shitty ass FPS thats coming out, an actual X-Com game.
The guys making the new X-Com are a bunch of imbeciles. As if the fricking market needed another FPS.

A more high-tech management system, improved over the old one. New and improved turn-based combat, see Valkyria Chronicles for example. And obviously new graphics.

It's probably been said a thousand times already...

SYSTEM SHOCK 1 & 2.

Might just add... DESCENT. We live in a world of normal mapped parallaxed per-fragment anisotropic shaded post processed goodness; yet we lack a proper revamp of the first game that screamed "FULL FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT!"
And also the idea of mining droids overtaken by a sentient morphological alien virus was fucking cool. I want to sit in an Israeli-made Pyro-GX and blow seven shades of shit outta possessed diamond claw wielding robots with a Vulcan Cannon in cutting edge stereoscopic 3D graphics.

To any devs reading this, buy the rights off Interplay, and get to it.

I'd certainly welcome an excuse to pour another 200+ hours of my life into KOtoR but it isn't really that outdated.
System Shock, however, is a game I've wanted to play for a long time but I've held off due to technical concerns.

Also: MOO2, Syndicate and the immortal X-COM all need to be loosed on the world again.

Final Fantasy 7 with a release for PC.

Well, we are already half way there, they did release it on PC. But yeah, I'd love a remake with FF13 style graphics.

A Shadowrun RPG.
As long as it isn't based on 4th Edition...and that technically isn't a remake unless we want to revisit Jake Armitage, the world's first successful Shaman/Street-Sam/Decker out there.
It's either that or remake the Shadowrun game they put on PC/360...and that wasn't Shadowrun. At all.

Freespace 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

I would so buy them, especially Freespace 2 - I still remember the AWESOME battles we had on the internet... I miss them so.

Star Wars: Battlefront. (1 or 2, their both 6th gen old.)
This. or just a 360 port of Republic Commando! Screw KotoR...

That, or an updated Ocarina of Time! I want no change in mechanics or gameplay or story or plot. Nothing will change except the graphics will be made to look like those of Twilight Princess. That, Escapists, would be awesome.

OT: The Legend of Dragoon, easily. One of the few PS1 games with voice acting, a great battle system, and amazing attacks. The story is also really gripping and engaging, and one of the first games I've seen do a really cinematic style of storytelling, instead of just having characters stand around with a giant text box. I'd happily shell out $60 for a full remake on Xbox 360 or something. Sadly, it's a Sony owned game, so it'll either be on PSP or PS3 if they ever decide to do it...
Definitely this. I saw this thread and that was the first game I could think of for a remake.

My second choice was Einhander, which has already been shot down for a continuation about five times. =|

I'd have to go with The Legend of Dragoon, a JRPG on the PS1 for those of you who haven't played it. It was overshadowed by the Final Fantasy series, but it is a great game and I'd love to see it remade and aggressively marketed this time.
I have to agree with you I'd love to see the additions system with flashy new graphics.

I also have to agree with KOTOR seeing it updated would be amazing. Well since both my RPG wishes have already been mentioned I think I'll have to go with Ape Escape for the PS1. I remember it from my childhood as being a challenging game that did great things with the dual analog sticks and I think if could be adapted to be a super fun motion control game with a little thought. Even just the normal graphics update could do a lot to bring this game to the present.

For me, i'd quite like KotOR with souped up graphics, a slightly bigger active map (to cut down the 'run through main square, to get to a door to get to a door to your destination' thing) to reduce loading and travel, maybe amp up the combat animations a bit, and add plenty of dlc style endgame content.

How about you? What slightly (or incredibly) dated game would you overhaul, and bring in to this gen? Let's throw out perfect dark zero, and bring in perfect dark 2.0!
i'd like majora's mask back. i loved that game, but for some reason everyone liked ocarina of time more.
