Just out of curiousity, have any of you heard news about a remake that not just disappointed you, but made you actively upset? For me, the only remake to do that is the upcoming remake of The Karate Kid...with this kid [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1535523/] in the title role, and Jackie Chan as Mr. Miyagi. Just...really made me angry. So, have any other remakes made you actively upset/angry?

That. Upsets. Me.

God, it's probably going to try adding some "from the ghetto" emotional back-story to the entire thing. And the wax on, wax off thing is never going to be as cool.

Some people's covers of Erana's Peace and Silent Night.
I know both of the songs so well, doing 'em wrong drives me nuts.
I just get this revulsion in me.

Will Smith's son is not Will Smith. This will not be a good movie.

Most movie remakes anger me greatly. Movies are the kind of thing you can put onto new formats easily and still appreciate what they meant. Movies that have to do with key current events that no longer apply can be updated to apply to a new generation, but outside of that I feel they are just wasted space in theaters. For example, the Friday the 13th and Halloween remakes are useless, but The Day the Earth Stood Still having a new pro-not-fucking-up-the-planet outlook instead of the Cold War is more up to date.

Game remakes are almost NECCESSARY because many of the OLDER systems die out and are impossible to retrieve. For example, I never owned an NES, so the Virtual Console releases of things (or better yet, the portable console remakes) are a blessing! I never played Chrono Trigger, and the control scheme changes in the remake made it feel like a MODERN game to me, not even a remake, to the point that I could finish it in just a few days.

I say give the kid a chance. He might turn out to be just as good an actor as his dad (for the record, I absolutely love Will Smith as an actor.). However, there is no denying that you can't beat the original Karate Kid, and Jackie Chan may be a legend but he is getting a little past it now. It may be a decent movie, but it won't be as good as the original (then again, how many movie remakes ever are?).

I gotta agree with the games aspect - remade games are just something different than remade movies. Movies don't get outdated as quickly as games.

But what I'm really furious at is the Evil Dead remake. I mean why not make an Evil Dead 4, for fucks sake?! Evil Dead itself is already a remake, why remake it again?

This makes me upset. I just can't imagine Jackie Chan as Mr. Miyagi. What is this going to be, a comedy?

I don't know if this applies here as we're talking about remakes... But a sequel to The Boondock Saints is and has been in the works, and when I first learned about it I believe my initial response was "WHAT? WHYYYYY" followed by a few grunts and finally an exasperated "There's no need! They're gonna ruin it!"

It's not remakes of movies that make me angry, It's remakes (covers) of songs. I believe that a songwriter should make his/her own songs and not copy off other people. Take the Jonas brothers, I LOVED the song Hello, Goodbye by the Beatles, but when the Jonas brothers did it I wanted to commit suicide it sounded so bad. The Barenaked Ladies did a tribute song to them (Be my Yoko Ono) and that's much better than just copying people.

The problem is, the kid's about ten years old. BAM! There goes the entire romantic arc. And the beatings won't be the same with someone younger than Ralph Macchio looked during The Karate Kid. And seriously, Jackie Chan? Jackie "The Tuxedo" Chan?

Aren't you missing the most crucial part that Jackie Chan does Kung-fu not Karate? Should be the Kung-fu Kid.
