LISTEN if i want to talk about abortion or whatever, ill go to yahoo.
if i want to talk about VIDEO GAMES i go to the ESCAPIST.

And for the haters who are ready to spam my mail as we speak, this is what Wikipedia had to say:
The Escapist (typeset as the escapist) is an online magazine covering video games, gamers, the gaming industry, and gaming culture.

EDIT: The point is why are these on the escapist, and not somewhere else.

You have a really narrow perspective, eh?

When you come to terms with the fact that things aren't always going to be the way you want them to be, you can mature.

Someone cleared it up for me:

If someone posted an abortion issue topic on say, yahoo, they would want a mixed opinion of all sorts of people, from eighty year old racists to 11 year old emos.

But if they post it here they are looking for the opinion of Gamers and only gamers. Although we may have differences in opinion, we are all gamers.

I guess im just a re-re.
And for someone claiming to be mature, you should lay off the insults and sarcasm.

You are wrong if you think this website is only for gamers.

Who else is it for? (calm down dude, its cool)

It's freedom, my friend. People can't concentrate on only one subject - that's not a fulltime social activity. Just relax, nobody makes you read those or reply to them. I have fun, it's refreshing to see something else among the gaming topics, although I do agree that the gaming gets less and the drama more, but... whatever, I'm having fun with it. ^^

hey i would like to make a wonderful point: even though i am [insert subculture name here] does not mean i don't think about [insert subculture] related things at all times. thats where there are the gaming forum pages and then there *EVERY FREAKING THING ELSE* to examine on the site including forum pages for everything else because life gets dull when you stick to one thing

We are become community? Generally I like the pepole here more, there is a diverse crowd here as well. Really this is a "gamer" site but we are a diverse crowd and have much more going on than games. Hell well games were a major part of my life I find my self following games more than playing them now.

It is like saying a book club can't talk about politics. The expressed purpose of a gathering of pepole is not always the true purpose of the gathering, gaming is simply a gateway to social interaction. There is only so much you can say about games before it turns into a meme forum, no one wants that!
