They're both excellent, in their own way. Alan Wake has much more "actual gameplay" going on than Heavy Rain, but I finished them both and they're awesome.

The guys and gals at Quantic Dream and Remedy Entertainment kick so much ass.

The guy's right. The only thing Alan Wake and Heavy Rain have in common is that they're both focused on story instead of you murdering stuff. I haven't played either of them, as I'm a PC gamer, but I'd still like to.

I got to try Alan Wake on a display 360 in an electronics store the other day, though I'm not used to the controller so it was pretty awkward. :p I'd like to play it someday, though if given the choice I'd most likely pick Heavy Rain. The premise is more intersting to me.

Well, that is a nice sentiment. I'm still unsure if I would be bothered with playing Heavy Rain (no PS3 natch). That, and as I've had it spoiled for me who the Origami Killer actually is, there will be no surprise for me there. Pity.

Still to check out Alan Wake. Will have to get round to that at some point....

Mikko's awesome. He's one of the two Remedy employees over at the Alan Wake forums who always joins in on the discussions. Great guy, great writer.

He sounds like a cool guy.

I really want to play Alan Wake, but my Xbox is dead as a dodo.

Heavy Rain? Not so much

If only that Crysis 2 guy would follow their example.
Stole my thoughts, mate. As we all say, NINJA'D.

Can I just ask: if Heavy Rain is supposed to be an emotionally-engaging and plot-driven story, what's the point in getting it when everyone's says it's got more plot-holes than actual plot? Oddly reviews have been largely positive, and (from someone who obviously hasn't played the game) the "gameplay" doesn't seem the main reason to bother buying it.
Umm, that's quite weird.
I don't know, maybe I'm dense or blinded by the awesomeness of the game but of actual plot holes I found one and also one really weird scene progression - neither of which break the atmosphere or screw up the game's story.

Heavy rain is the best game out yet for me because it has got the best storyline that there has ever been in a game. Also it draws you in as if your actually there making the vast amount of choices to choose from. I really liked this game and i would recomend it to everyone who has the best console, called PS3!

Loved the different endings!
