A cutscene or a loading screen, i think using cutscenes to disguise loading screens is very smart. Now on pc the inability to skip SOME cutscenes on fast machines is a pain but if you are playing a story driven game and knowingly buy a story driven game and realise that hey cutscenes are a part of them you have shouldnt complain.

He mentioned that "HALFLIFE 2 DIDNT HAVE CUTSCENES SO ALL GAMES MUST NOT HAVE CUTSCENES",this is bullshit.

The reason it worked in hl2 is because Gordon freeman is a non character with no impact on the narrative so you could fuck about all you want and have no impact on the road the story takes because you were not part of the story, you were an observer.

Im sure there were trigger finger gamers who wished the game didnt have dialogue because it was interrupting them shooting things.

Its simple, cutscenes are a game design tool. If you dont want plot, thats fine. Just dont but a plot driven game. And for fuck sake dont review bomb a game because TB doesnt like cutscene

Have fun playing through the game more than once and sitting through the same cutscene several times, then. I know that *I* don't enjoy watching cutscenes more than once.

I do, if they're well-made cutscenes and important to the plot. Skipping cutscenes makes a game feel incomplete to me, like I'm not getting the full package.

Contrary to popular belief, most people aren't assholes online--the vocal pricks are just a lot more noticeable. Really bums me out that people go out of their way to ruin other people's times when they hadn't done anything to deserve it. It's not like it's going to cause horrendous problems for Metacritic, but there was no reason to do that to them. Shoot them off a message or call their office or something, tell them about the problem and they can fix it. You'll get a kind word in thanks and no one is worse off for it.

Wait wait I thought 4chan hated "TORtanic"? Or was that just the umpteenth sub-sub-sub faction? I think the whole thing is hilarious though.

Hating TOR does seem to be one of the few things /v/ can agree upon. But half of the people doing this have seemingly decided to bump up the scores of every game with a low user score for shits and especially giggles. Since the system provides no way to input an absurdly low user score, there's really no way they can be overridden.

Because it had micro transaction in it, and apparently some people thought harmless cosmetic purchases was a terrible affliction for a game.

Actually, it was because the campaign was not worth $60. Too short and too easy.

Co-Op and silly hats/skins for sale day one, didn't help.

It did result in a pretty great blog post from the TF2 team though.

So is Metacritic going to take down the entire site and try to revamp the code or... just... let the user reviews devolve into somehow being even more useless than they use to be?

EDIT: Looks like they're ironing out all of the trolling scores, though I'm not sure how... it could just be my internet, really, but the side bar still has Tribes: Ascend at 403, while actually clicking on it brings up the User Score at 7.9, but Total War: Shogun is still at 145.

More like it's an incredibly basic issue that should certainly not have been there in the first place. That's poor coding even by the standards of people like me, who's knowledge of web design is limited to a lesson or two I did as part of a related subject I did in college a year ago. If such a basic feature was so poorly done, you have to wonder about the quality of the rest of the site. It wouldn't surprise me if this became only the first of a number of abuses, now that the cat has been let out of the bag.

That's your opinion leaking in, the big ***** fit was over the cosmetic purchases and because a splash screen said 'console' instead of 'PC', so people tried claiming it was a console port.

And moaning about price and then putting your fingers in your ears and pretending half the content wasn't there doesn't make it a rip-off, it means you should learn to wait for the price to drop if you only want to play one portion of the content.

But the chances of 4chan denizens doing something kind, that is, the things that inhabit that place doing a kind thing for another human being... well, It is almost unfathomable. Same kind of people that got someone arrested for the lols and ruined their entire life.

Oh, and before someone says "Its a varied community and the guys on /b/ are not indicative of the whole website" uh... I disregard this statement. They are the most well known aspect of the website, their existence is permitted by the other denizens, you allow that lot to be your diplomats, you deserve universal hate.

I have just got to the point where I no longer expect anyone to have a shred of human decency. In real life or online. The only difference is online you find out someone is an asshole much quicker. That way I am pleasantly surprised if I meet someone who is kind.

And in no way shocked when I meet someone who is a dick.

4chan has been responsible for much, much worse. The internet contains much worse then people who are willing to waste someones time and mess with a website.
