Of the men of Lara's crew, one is her mentor, and is killed off soon. The sailors are still good. The tech guy is useless even at tech and gets sent to do one task and dies doing it and Lara doesn't think twice about him dying. And the professor betrays them. So there are about 3 good guys two of whom are killed for character development. And one of them is supposed to be a battle-hardened sailor who dies the first time he is shown fighting. And the one guy who did survive didn't do anything useful at least up to the part I played. So in all, there is only one good and useful guy and he dies in the first half.
Oh, major "d'oh" on my part for letting the two most awesome people on the crew slip my mind: Grim and Roth. So that's four men to two women in the supporting cast, who're all decent/good people.

As I mentioned before, I didn't finish the game so I didn't know the leader's full plan. But hearing it makes male characters look even worse and further proves my point.
But this doesn't say anything about "male characters". It says something about persuasive cult leaders. Mathias surrounded himself with people who were strong enough to increase his power, but not smart enough to consider usurping him, and then he systematically broke down his followers' senses of morality while killing anyone who wasn't willing to go along with it.

The game basically has two awesome male characters, two who're simply nice people, a treacherous one, and an evil madman. All the grunts you meet on the way can hardly be considered characters, and it is their leader--not their sex--that is to blame for their behavior. The game does not in any way disparage maleness, but (as I mentioned) two thirds of the male characters Lara interacts with are portrayed as flawed but decent people.

I don't manage to get many games. I'm not that wealthy, and have a limited scope of interest. As a result, I usually only get about three or four games a year. So when I tell you that I AM GETTING THIS GAME... you know that means something.

I preordered the game via amazon for the advertized street fighter moves bonus, and am really looking forward to it!

SPINNING BIRD KICK! YATTAH!! XD

Wootie woot! Female protagonist!

Seriously, I hope this is a good game. I hope it meets, or surpasses sales expectations!

As much as I loved te trailer, I'm not sure why they made it. I'm not seeing it on television. Has anyone seen it on TV? Has it preceeded a youtube video?

The game's going to need publicity if it's expected to do well, isn't it? I mean it's going to be out in less than 2 days. It's an IP with nothing to stand on.

At the end of the video, there's a link to a 'story website' ("here's the story"), and I've been on it for 20 minutes now, it's freaking HUGE. Somewhere, someone involved is really interested in fleshing out the story of this world. It's taking me forever to get through, but I'm legitimately entertained by it. That alone has me really interested. If this bombs, I'm going to be very sad and disappointed because it looks very promising from what I've seen, and I love brain-stuff
