I got it in the bundle too. And I've played... *quickly checks steam* ...three hours of it. Its not bad. Its okay. The problem I have with it is that it is painfully PAINFULLY average. That is to say the entirety of the game is average. And that's a gigantic problem.

A good game is worth playing because its good. An average game can be worth playing because of specific aspects of it you like...maybe it has a good story or unique gameplay or whatever and you can put up with the dull bits. A bad game can be worth playing either because its so bad its funny or because there's a specific redeeming feature you really like.

But a game that is average in every single respect? Its just boring. Flat out boring.

I remember years ago the team that made the original game started making The Dreamland Chronicles which was a Ghost Recon/Xcom game. But cancelled.
Actually, the gameplay originally planned for Dreamland Chronicles sounds a lot more similar to Valkyria Chronicles than Ghost Recon.
Yeah dont remember to much about it apart form one screenshot of a group of 4 guys hiding behind a wall near a base. Was a game I was really excited about it and it never appeared. Talking of Valkyria Chronicles, i just bought that off Steam today. ;-)Hoping at some point they will Steam will have Front Mission 3 and Vandal Hearts 1 and 2 - love those.
I'm actually thinking of buying a PC copy of Valkyria Chronicles despite having completed the PS3 version several times. I never did buy all of the DLC. X-D

And oh my god I would do so much for a HD remake of Front Mission 3. Never played Vandal Hearts though.

I hope you'll enjoy Valkyria Chronicles as much as I have.

Nice to it was given a second chance on Steam. It's one of my favorite games from its generation, arguably one of the most unique takes on the strategy rpg genre and perhaps the closest we can get to playing Dreamland Chronicles.

I enjoyed it. It's a fun game, as far as third person cover shooters go. It has some good things going for it. I'd recommend it if the price is right. And the price should be right on Steam sometime in the next 10 days.

There is one aspect that saved that game from being completely average (in my humble opinion). The setting and aesthetics. I really love the 60's aesthetic with the fashion and all. And some of the locations in that game were pretty cool. It has a unique charm. I wish we had more games set in that time period. Perhaps a free roaming game. Maybe Mafia 3 will scratch that itch.

It's kind of strange it didn;t come out sooner, it sold better on PC on release day than the latest CoD and AC Unity. With any luck, Sega will be smart enough to release VC 2/3 on PC too.

I'm enjoying it so far, I mean the characters are a complete smorgmasboard of cliche archtypes so far, and the disguise for WW2 is so thin it's laughable and makes you wonder why they even bothered ("Quick troop movements highlighted by lightning fast mobile armour divisions"....no it's totally not the Blitzkrieg. Or Darcsens quite clearly being Jews..."Europa War 2"), and that hyper guy in R&D can go stick his head in a tank cannon, but gameplay wise it's pretty tight.

Eh. It'll get to the point where in order to complete maps with good ranks you'll have to throw all of your units to the side aside from the scouts. Specifically Alicia. You pretty much have to solo maps with her. Not that it's hard or anything because once she has all her potentials she'll have the damage and surivability of a Shocktrooper, the mobility of a Scout, can destroy almost any vehicle in one shot, and will shrug off whatever fire she can't evade.

Basically the gameplay is fine until you start getting decent rifles for the Scouts. Then it breaks. Use a Shocktrooper to finish the Scout trial prior to episode 7 and then give the rifle to Alicia and send her up to the plateau above where you start. She can singlehandedly annihilate the entire wave of elite soldiers that appear as reinforcements.

I hope so too, but this is Sega we're talking about. They don't exactly have the best track record when it comes to good decisions.

Now, I suppose I should say something that's actually on topic. I've played a bit of The Bureau. It was ... ok. Neither bad, nor good. Just another game that will quickly be forgotten by the passage of time because it wasn't remarkable in any way.

There's beating a dead horse, and then there's exhuming a horse's skeletal remains. Even I have my limits. Regardless, if you want to say something about them go right ahead.
