No, not at all. What made them special is a combination of the quality of the games themselves and the fact that you were a kid and therefore have fond memories.

Seriously, It was the grandad of "turn it off and on again!"
I did love cartridges, Probably Moreso than discs, But the games were awesome, And i still had the childlike whimsy to think the characters were real, And not just numbers & textures.
