any FPS - the ability to carry less then 3 weapons and save anywhere you want.
Portal (2) - Pacifism (yes you destroy turrets in Portal 2 but those are just robots.
GTA (any) - satire and the concentration of the decade it,s set in.

Hmm... I actually enjoyed games that didn't have a save option, but that was the NES days and playthroughs weren't exactly super-long for most games. But generally though it wouldn't make most games horrible, just up the difficulty immensely.

OT: Remove the ability to look from modern FPS games, only move forward, back and strafe. That would be maddening.

Witcher 2: remove choices from the game would ruin it completely.

Any RPG with voice acting: remove that from that game and replace it with lots and lots of text instead.

I know I can manual save, but when I play STALKER I actually save almost every 30 seconds, and I am 15, I am getting old man those 3 seconds are a lot man.

Bethesda Games: The ability to mod. That could go for PC games in general.
STALKER: The Mutants.
Dead Island: The resort area.
Dead Rising 2: The ability to make weapons.
Garrysmod: The toolgun.
TF2: The humor.
Left 4 Dead: 4 characters.
Amnesia: The creepiness.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has some RPG elements and there isn't much in the area of voice acting so you end up reading a lot (the game still goes on around you while you read walls of text) but that doesn't really break the game, I actually like it more, there are less chances of having to listen to bad voice acting.

"The Answer" chapter in Persona 3 FES taught me a very important lesson:
Though Social Links can be boring, sometimes- I know that we all hate Kenji, the prick, and having to deal with him does get frustrating- the game *needs* them to break up the grind.

Because no matter how fun Persona 3's combat is, it is not enjoyable enough to warrant ~27 hours of pure, difficult grinding, broken up occasionally by about three minutes of exposition.

So, I pick the Social links from Persona 3. (Unless they were removed to make place for more story and character development. Mmm, Vic Mignogna...)

You realise that exists right? There is a difficulty setting in the game that has no checkpoints, I believe noone has completed it on that setting as of yet.

OT though, removing loot from World of Warcraft.

You guys are being pretty obvious. Try thinking of ways the games would actually be published, but suck. For example:

Oblivion: First-Person mode.
