I have to admit I laughed me ass off at these, very funny indeed, though I have to question how much free time you have if you are willing to do all of the characters like this, and the fact you went to the trouble of making a new account just to make that post.

Worried about how much free time you have now, I truly am.

I have a second job to take care of after this one today, but I will try to record for each male character with a different voice/accent. Hope you are pleased with the work. Regardless, best of luck to you with the project.

I feel like you just sorta-slyly insulted everyone willing to put in time and effort to help you, in addition to some pretty hardcore cognitive dissonance with regards to the fact that you made a brand new account specifically to show off your very ambitious time-consuming project. I skimmed some of the posts on this page and you can't blank out "God this sucks" as a criticism, especially if it's the one you get most often. That stuff hurts, most definitely, but if you parse out the anonymous douchiness there's usually some good points to take to heart.

There's only one real way to produce natural dialogue: go talk to some people a lot. You don't need to aspire to mamet-levels of absurd naturalism, and dialogue does tend to be unnervingly perfect, but the sort of stiltedness you've got right now lends itself better to parody. I don't think you intended Alex's characterization to be that of the kind of dude that steals bottles of brandy from the supermarket, buys 14 year old girls cigarettes, pounds cold ones in public parks, and wants desperately to be liked by his peers, but leaving so much up to interpretation leads to those sorts of flights of fancy.

edit: skimming the rest of this thread, DO NOT GO TO 4CHAN, the oelvn community will tear your ass apart. hell, they don't even like each other.

I am confused how I insulted people with that comment, the recordings you made were clearly a joke and they made me laugh and they even made me go and edit a line, the part I added about me being worried about how much time you have would be if you were to do one of these parody auditions for all 6 characters with no intent of actually helping out as a voice actor, and again I do read through all of these and I do take everything in as I have stated, just because I do not directly reply to it doesn't mean I haven't given it a read, the writer and I just this morning directly took some advice from this forum and started to go through everything he had written and said it allowed, we had a laugh with it as sometimes what we write and what we would say are so far apart it can be amusing to hear it allowed.

(Also as an edit I must again point out I am not the writer and these lines are not all of these lines are directly taken from the VN, though...some of them are and have now been heavily edited)

Also this account is the only account I have, I have been a long time user of this site to watch some of the series that run on here but never a forum poster, where as I get the feeling that you have another account, I could be wrong of course and if I am then I am sorry for jumping to conclusions.

And once again I just took another look at the forum posts, no one here has directly been a "god this sucks" sort of person pretty much everyone has been extremely constructive with there feedback, my issue with "god this sucks" isn't that it hurts my feelings its that it gives me nothing to work with, if it was "this writing sucks because..." I can work with that or "those designs suck because not enough colours" I can work with that as well but just blindly saying "oh this is bad" isn't helpful which is why I glaze over it

Okay dude, I was just being overly defensive then. No, I had fun doing a silly voice and putting stupid context to your thing. I didn't have an account here or a tindeck account or whatever, I just found a rockband mic in my shit this morning and googling "amateur voice acting" actually has this thread pop up on the second page for some reason.

on another note though:

"Y-Yes of course that must be the only explanation, y-your rugged manliness just got the better of me"

That is a wonderful bit of dialogue but not for the reason your writer probably thinks

Actually that line probably sounds bad because of me, it was meant be one character making fun of another character not actually flirty more very obvious sarcasm.
Also don't get me wrong I highly enjoyed listening to the parody voice work most of them made me laugh.

I would audition, but i've been told i sound like Seth Rogen. Plus i think i'd probably enjoy doing like a villain/protagonist voice. Solid idea though, hope it does well for you

I could take a crack at it at some point, if you're looking for a deeper voice typical of many actors playing teens.

The character of Gabriel intrigues me. Tell me, is he actually bipolar/PTSD? or just emotionally repressed? (it does make a difference) Also, "flips between emotionless and overly emotional", as in... between thoughts? natural ebb and flow with particular highs and lows? flipping mid-sentence? between interruptions? I should be able to provide examples of each for reference, but some specific direction would be helpful.

It would never be mid sentence its not a mental condition, he's very emotionally repressed, certain topics or situations can cause him become overly aggressive. there are also times where he will have a repressed memory triggered by something causing him to become extremely panicked and lose control of himself, this won't be a common thing though.

Oh, that was so brilliant. You can clearly do character voices well. I'm suddenly not so confident.

Anyway, I sent my audition through for Jesia and Hinako, so check your email sometime, JessieK!

Ah, I'd love to give Hira a go, I truly would! However, I must ask: Would a minor speech impediment matter much? You see, I struggle pronouncing my R's, and have done since I was a child. I have a similar issue with producing a Th sound. For example: 'The rabbit ran through the withering tree' would become 'The vabbit van froo the wivvering tvee'. That, combined with a heavy, somewhat upper-class British accent may produce a result that is difficult to take seriously.

Unofficial Trailer for Twisted Liars:

I'm sure someone's raring at the bit for more information about this project, so I've taken the liberty of putting together an unofficial trailer for anyone who's really curious about what Twisted Liars is really about.

Let's get that hype train rolling!!

I'd be happy to apply! I have a strong voice that many people say belongs on the radio. It was also always fun during chem lab getting requests from people to say lines like "Quick, I need that 10 mL of Hydrochloric acid, stat! We're losing the reaction! Don't you die on me!"

Oh, I'm going to have fun with this.
