I was reading an article on the escapist about how a 6 year old kid in Norway wanted to rename himself Sonic X (based on the anime). He eventually wrote a letter to the king about his name change and had his parents mail it to him. The king later replied saying that he would have to wait until he's 18 before he could make a life altering decision (or something along the lines of that). check it out here http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.109226

I then thought about the video game character names I would want to have. My first [and only] thought was to change my name to Raz. Reason being is because one, I'm the biggest Psychonauts fan on the face of the internet and two, it just sounds like a bad ass name.

What character name would like to have and why if you give enough of a crap.

I didn't choose my name from dothack, I've used it far before then. It's just one of my aliases. If I could I'd have my name changed to it, but I don't think I'd change my name to something that everyone knows and would look down on me for having.

Anything other than one of the most common names in the US would be nice though. Tired of there being 8 people in my school and workplace with the same name as me.

Drizz't Do'urden.

Or um... it's not really the name of a person but if your name was "Castle Wolfenstein" you'd pretty much be auto-badass.

Sam Fisher. Maybe if I had his name I would absorb some awesomeness.
Oooh....good idea.

I'd have to say Saren Arterius. because he was an awesome, sympathetic villain.

That's the ideal way to do it, I think, pick a name of a character that's human, and then you don't freak out potential employers or partners, yet you're still doing what you want.

After all, if you got 3 CVs for a job, and only had time to interview 2, and they all seemed ok. Who's not getting a call in?

Mr S Fisher
Mr G Freeman
Mr S.T. Hedgehog

Someone had to give a boring sensible answer I guess.

I'd still go for Max Payne if I had to change tho.

Gordan Freemon would probably be the *best* choice, but if I had suffered sufficient San loss to rename myself after a character, it would wind up being either Cloud Strife (liking that last name, but not so crazy on being named 'Cloud'), or Squall Lionheart (who I have no faith in, but he's got a badass name).

If I had to change my name, I would pick something from Bioware's games. Failing that Starcraft, but I doubt a bioware game (even one) could fail to provide a good name.

I wouldn't ever do it, but it would be cool to have as a full name, Akatosh Dragon God of Time.
