So I came across this just now. It's an art blog where artists can submit outfit redesigns for girls from anime, gaming, and comic books. The intent is to remove the string bikinis and fetish fap material and put them in outfits you.... might actually wear when heading into a fight? I guess the intent is to show that, with the smallest amount of effort, you can make a female character look sexy AND ready to fight.

http://repair-her-armor.tumblr.com/

Here's an example

Before:

After:

I would contend that they rename the blog to Repair Their Armor and include guys in this because... This guy right here

needs some clothes... some actual armor would be even better. Arnie is one arrow away from being 250 pounds of very manly fertilizer.

I'll be honest here, I found the fixed cover more sexy. Seriously.

Too bad comic book publishers will never believe me. >.<

x2. I found the first cover to convery "Masturbate to my picture" and the second one to convey "read my story!".
Well, publishers, I can get free quality porn online every day, but not free quality comics.

... Why did they suddenly put crosses on all her clothing items? Her pants have one, her shirt... is this part of her character or are the new artists just trying to force a message about clothing / religion too?

Anyways, I'm glad some people are doing the correct things regarding armor. I've always found full armor to be more badass for most sexes, including the old vanillia WoW's level 60 armor, especially the Paladin's old PVP armor for both genders were full on badass and a lot more intimidating on the battlefield. Gotta love a women in uniform.

EDIT: Really, people. Try reading down more than this post before quoting me. I've already had enough quotes and explained.

It's better but I would still go a smidge further, I dunno about the rest of humanity but I want something a little more protective than leather and latex.

Look at everyone's favorite THE batman, he got padding and I assume carbon fiber.

Then again, he is the only hero I can think of with something substantial to protect himself.

A move in the right direction if you ask me!

I like the idea of these sorts of blogs or whatever but I always find myself getting really annoyed by the people who post it.

Like, yeah I understand that they've had to put up with a lot of shit regarding their sex in games but it just seems like a big circlejerk of "oh, silly men! Can't design anything!" when you read some of the comments.

Some of the designs look cool and some look dumb, but even so it's an enjoyable read. Or look. How do you define 'picture-ing'? I dunno.

AH I remember that blog, it interesting to look through an see the designs people come up with, how much of a difference a panel of cloth can make and they put up examples of good designs too.

I agree they should do men as well especially if their going to do games like Tera were there is plenty of wtf for the male armors too.

Well I'm female so that's probably why or maybe its just a taste thing but I don't "get" most "sexy" armour/costumes. Not talking about sexism or realism or anything like that. Most of time it just looks boring, ugly or silly to me.

I think the character is supposed to be an angel so the religion symbols make sense there. The blog post for the example has a link to the costume that the used as inspiration which has a cross necklace.

OT: I'm with Redlin5 as well I find scantly clad armour less appealing than practical stuff, The really OTT stuff I just find funny in 'Are they serious?' kind of way. Anyone noticed it seems to be RPGs and Fighting game that are the major offenders of these types of designs?

Also I like this roosterteeth video showing the impracticality of these armours as well.

Given the "Seraphicide" part of the title, it could well be thematically appropriate. *wikis* ...Yep. The character of Avengelyne is an angel who fights demons and other monsters, and her blood gains special powers by quoting the Bible. Christian symbols fit into the character design rather neatly.

OT: Gotta say, I'm rather liking the Wartune redesign, myself.

Wait... THAT is the plot of the comic!? And they have her... wearing that in the original cover?

That HURTS MY BRAIN!!

This is why I was originally confused. Now her change makes sense, but the comic still does not. Sigh, oh well.

The after cover still looks like she is getting ready for a BDSM video (not that that's a bad thing at all). I'd imagine if someone, regardless of gender, was about to go into a fight they'd cover as much skin as possible in armour or protective padding and not have arms, legs and stomach bare and open and the rest covered in what looks to be black leather. The Arnold thing isn't too out of touch though. There have been warriors in ancient history that fought completely naked to show their courage to their allies and their ferocity to their foes.

Are you really all that surprised?
You also have this
Christian symbolism + lots of blood, violence, random straps and skimpily dressed woman seems to be a thing.

Yup. This is basically the basis of all anti-two strips of clothing armor arguments.

Please tell this to just about every game designer.
And shout it to the Scarlet Blade designers please.

Okay, that redesign looks good. Like, really good.

Oh Evony. I had forgotten about that little gem...

Uh, you're in the wrong topic, Captcha. That Anita Sarkeesian thread might be more appropriate.

There was already a cross theme going on, though not as explicit. Plus, it's a religious themed character, so why would it be forcing a message about religion?

A hint can be found in the subtitle of Seraphicide.

Wouldn't naked women have double the effect as a naked man? Not only are they willing to fight naked but they're also WOMEN fighting naked.

Any opponent is bound to either underestimate a naked female or at least be somewhat confused by the scenario.

I have to say that Skarlet redesign is just fucking amazing! I love that it still keeps the character but also gives that kunoichi vibe to it.

I know right? Had that been the ad, I might have actually given the game the time of day. I still probably wouldn't have bought into it, but I'd have been more invested than sniggering at the ads and thinking "Character Design, my lord?"
