To start off, an obvious choice. The replacement for RDR's John Marston.

Spoiler: Those 20 guys that are with Edgar Ross at the barn? All dead.

And, even Eli Vance has a potential replacement.

Spoiler: But then Episode Two's ending would piss people off more.

But then again, those could be considered obvious choices. What's yours and in what games?

I don't care if it would become incredibly scary when Clint Eastwood falls in love with himself in certain games, I'd totally buy that romance.

Well, I'd replace that guy you play as in Tales of Phantasia with someone like Alex Mercer.

The reason? I dunno.

Just replace Squall with... well, any other character in Final Fantasy 8. I like the character and all, and he's great in the game, but he is not main protagonist material.
Just switch it around a little, and it could have been less... something.

If you replaced Edward Cullen with John Wayne Gacy, I'd buy the entire Twilight series twice over. Also, I'd like to see Theresa from Fable 2 replaced by Shamus Young; as I'm sure anyone would. And finally, I'd like to see Nathan Drake replaced with Yahtzee-- for lulz, of course.
