Since every station I watch, every website I visit and almost every buss stop I pass by I see advertisements for this movie I thought I would ask peoples opinions on it. Personally I find the premise kind of perplexing, you have a fairly unlikable individual who goes around repossessing peoples organs and then in an almost karmic twist he requires new organs he can not pay for. While the overall story works the idea that you are supposed to sympathize with the main character who almost hands people death sentences because they have no money, and then feel for him when he has the same thing happen to him.

I also wonder about the timing of this release. During a time when a lot of people are falling behind on payments to credit companies and other places, repo men are making being more frequently used to settle these debts.

It also seems very similar to Repo! The genetic opera http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.88315-Repo-The-Genetic-Opera
But I might be digging too deep for that one.

I think this might have made an interesting horror flick but overall I don?t see any likable or redeemable about this character or story.

I have never seen or heard of this movie before...

I probably wont watch it, it sounds quite lame and bad if you ask me.

I've been thinking that it's basically an action version of repo the genetic opera. But can't you sometimes cheer for a villain? Maybe there's some kind of twist and he turns over a new leaf.

Trust me, you are not reading too much into things when you say the two movies look similar. That is a big point of contention among Repo! fans is that they stole from Repo!.
Anyway, it I am kind of interested in seeing it. I won't pay for it anytime soon. I know I can't stop them from stealing form the creators of Repo! but if they want my money, they will have to earn it.

I think it looks good, and the fact that it's coming out during a time of recession and massive debt is what makes it all the more disturbing.

but of course you know those two movies were basically in development around the same time right?

Another generic "bad guy becomes good guy" movie thinly veiled in the propaganda and subtle reality of the repo business.

I give it two thumbs down just for being unoriginal.

I think it looks interesting. Then again, my definition of a good movie is anything with large explosions and big guns. No wonder I liked both Transformers movies...

Looks too much like Repo! to me, it just doesn't sit right because of that. At least Repo!'s main man had a seriously twisted and convoluted backstory going to make his character so much more interesting to watch.

Granted it is mostly running on Adult Swim late nights, but since every commercial break has a showing of this movie I have grown very tired of it (Even quicker then I grew to hate "The Crazies", why couldn't they just call it "Another Generic Zombie Movie, only with out the zombies").

I suppose they did get their point across with making it push your buttons and get inside your head a little bit with current economic woes being what they are. However even after he turns a new leaf it still feels like karma just kicked him in the grapes. The only way it would have felt more tacked on and forced is if it were a beautiful woman he was trying to save or a little girl who knows deep down he is a nice guy.

A side note; in the business of repoing peoples body parts don't you think they would be making a lot more money and could afford those replacements. If you basically are giving some one the license to kill you would consider them to be under harsh standards and practices and those that do it should get paid well for being able to maintain those high end scruples.

That may be, but Repo! was around in stage form since the late 90s.

I'd like to share an opinion on the movie, but when I see anything about it I flash back to Monty Python

This movie doesn't really look that great to me, but I'll probably end up seeing it eventually. The big problem for me is this movie just reminds me way too much of an old Monty Python sketch for me to take it seriously. Every time I see the trailer I all I hear in my head is John Cleese asking if he can have my liver.

Never heard of it, however I do have a comment to make:
Do not fear the repo.
Ok.
I'm out.

Beat ya by less than a minute =P

Nice to see someone else sees it too...It really makes it hard to take the dumb thing seriously.

That was seriously the first thing I thought of when I heard about this movie. It really is seldom a good sign when a movie that is suposed to be taking itself seriously reminds the audience of Monty Python.

Yeah, I recently heard that both movies are actually loosely based on yet someone else's original story. I haven't really looked into it, so I am not sure. It's just what I heard.

I personally love Repo! The Genetic Opera. It is a great movie and is now one of my favorites. Repo Men doesn't look awesome or anything, but it should be interesting/entertaining. I will probably end up seeing it, and I hope I am pleasantly surprised. Since Repo Men is a very similar story but a completely different style, it's going to be interesting what they do differently.
