Wait. Microsoft fiddling sales numbers!? Say it ain't so.
Side note, any dead on arrival issues like the PS4?

A few. Some with disc drive problems, headset just making static, system freezes, rebooting systems and like good old Sony, a day 1 update that bricked a few systems. The usual launch things.Psychobabble said:Wait. Microsoft fiddling sales numbers!? Say it ain't so.

Retail stores don't stockpile consoles. I should know, I work at Target currently. We're out of both Xbox One's and PS4s. We're unable to order any of either console. Its totally up to Sony and MS for how many we get. Keep this in mind tough. We got 50 PS4s at my store for launch with line ups at the door before we opened. MS only send us 4 Xbox Ones and we have no idea when we're getting more. The only console we have in the back is the 2 dozen Wii Us that won't leave the store.Ultratwinkie said:Its not "sold out" because of stockpiling for black friday. Same for PS4. Retailers are holding onto any shipments they can get for the holiday rush.
Its to get costumers in the door of an expected soft season, and possibly unload more stuff on the customers once they are in the door.
In fact, the very same site has stated as such. So the PS4 isn't as sold out either if walmart still has them.

Look at the source on n4g, dualshockers.
Not to mention we have no idea how big the batch of xbones are. Not being sold out isn't a death sentence if you make a lot of consoles. Which is a very good tactic when you are near black friday.
That means people will go to the product with a better production chain. Its basic supply and demand. Especially since good black friday sales is good news for your stock price.
Tweak Atlus' nose for bad grammar, then use less instead of fewer a story later. Oh irony!Steven Bogos said:Report: Xbox One Not as "Sold Out" as Microsoft Claims
On the other hand, both New York stores reported having absolutely no PS4s for sale, although it is still difficult to make a direct comparison, as the Best Buy clerk said that his store received less PS4 units than Xbox Ones.

To be fair, if someone's getting laid with an Xbox I want to know so I can steer clear of that Xbox.Earthfield said:At this point, does it matters how much are left after how much it sold? I'm not fond of the Bone, but I find these kind of articles kinda like a gossipy magazine... "Ohh, ohh, let's see who gets laid with who"
mysecondlife said:This is how I'll refer to people this generation. You are either a Dual Shocker, a Xboner, a Wii User. Combinations are being though of, but at the moment "Dual Boner" is looking pretty decent in the running for people who have PS4 and Xbone. Dual Wii Boner U/Dual Wii Boner for those who are balling enough to have all three.Mumorpuger said:"Dual Shockers" "xboners"
Sorry I don't have anything to add to this topic, I ran into Mumorpuger's post and had to share the lols.
Realistically the Xbone probably sold around 600,000 units in North America while the remaining number were sold elsewhere. It certainly wasn't evenly distributed by country, since America has both a large and wealthy population. That said, the Xbone has historically done very poorly outside the U.S. The fact that the PS4 was able to defeat the Xbone so handily "on its own turf" is not a good sign for Microsoft.fix-the-spade said:Well, if it is the global sales figure then it works out at less than one hundred thousand units sold per country on launch day, which by my reckoning is pretty disastrous.luvd1 said:So it does look like the 1 mill units sold is the world wide number and not for NA. That's not good, not bad but that is not good at all.
For some history, 400'000 PS2's went in the first twenty four hours in the US alone, 500'000 PS4 at least have gone in the US and even the PS3's 'difficult' launch saw roughly 400'000 go to the US on day one and 300'000 sold in Europe on day one. Under 100k per market is potentially terrible, of course we don't know how those numbers break down (if it's 500k US 150k Canada, 150k UK and then rest of the world (or similar) disaster averted), but it means that at least one of the major markets ignored the Xbone on launch day.
^This. This stuff right here. All over the place I keep seeing "Oh, why do people still hate the Xb1 and Microsoft? Its not bad anymore." Seriously? Did we forget the part where Microsoft decided gamers shouldn't be able to play games without their permission? And then told us to fuck off cause its the future and this is what we wanted? PC is already fucked up the ass hole with drm and drm clients deciding when I can play games. If Sony was pulling this shit and I lived in a magical universe where Microsoft didn't have a history of screwing their customers, I would either be jumping ship or learning how to crack pc games. The idea that so many people would buy a more expensive console that's weaker AND tried to fuck us just because they owned a 360 last gen, is sad. I get that some people want to play exclusives and I can't blame them. But that's only worth waiting and buying the console when its cheaper and the games have actually come outxPixelatedx said:Good, I am happy so many people are reluctant now.
Fucking suffer, Microsoft. Not selling as well as planned isn't too bad for them, but it's something. Every bad thing that happens to them from here now is something well deserved, and I even say that as someone who mained a 360 last gen.
Every idea and move they approached gen 8 with would have been the start of the crash (and a much deserved one, at that). Screw them for trying to bring that on, and good on all of you for helping put a stop to their BS. I am happy they overturned their "ideas" because of the catastrophic negative press they earned, but all is not yet forgiven. You may apologize for putting a knife to someone's throat, but that doesn't mean your "cool" with them now. Not all of us have the memory of a goldfish.
