Hello all!

Ok, favour to ask. I'm a student currently in my final year of university and, as such, doing my dissertation. At the moment, it's titled 'Games, gamers and game-stories: agency and narrative in computer games'. At this stage, I am pretty massively behind and would really appreciate anyone here taking the time to answer a short survey.

The survey should only take a few minutes of your time (app. 5 max) and it would be doing me such a huge favour.

Obviously, if there are any questions you have about it, you're free to contact me. Hopefully, it should be pretty clear though.

Thanks in anticipation!

(Also, sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section.)

Who's going to put N/A for gender?
More people than you'd think. Gender isn't limited to just male and female. My partner, for example, is gender neutral, so "N/A" would suit them perfectly.

Edit: Also, +1 completed survey.

All done and dusted. Bit gutted though - today was the first day I've ever had to put "30-34" as my age bracket. Well, at least I've got lots of presents to compensate!

I'm curious (nice to meet you, lol), but does that mean your partner does not identify with one particular gender or simply does not have genitals?

They are female-bodied, but don't identify as female OR male. Use "they" instead of he/she, etc.

I'll just step right in where I don't belong and say that you're thinking about sex. Sex is physical, gender is mental. Strictly speaking I hold that gender doesn't really exist as it's a feeble social construct, but that's neither here nor there.

Aah, thank you all!

This is the most activity my survey has had in a while...this really is appreciated!

That's pretty much exactly why I included the third option.

While I won't disagree with the gender issue on a physical/emotional level (and the less said the better, lest we hijack this poor man's thread), I think labeling [mental] gender as a feeble social construct is simplistic at best, and frighteningly ignorant at worst. I don't mean that as a insult, but the ways in which we define ourselves, others and our roles in society is far, far from being a feeble and useless concept...whether or not it's right or wrong.
